theory of mine...opinions?

well guys, i have a theory. its that the best shot you can make on a whitetail, is a slightly quartering away shot. placing the arrow to where you drill the lungs, and the arrow get lodged in the opposite shoulder. i believe this because dont you think you broadhead will do a lot more damage if its stuck in the deer, while its running away. i mean really, it should tear up all the vanes, bones, muscle, and vitals, with the broadhead moving around with the deer trying to run. you also take out a leg in the process, which i know deer are great on three legs, but dont you think theyre gonna run farther with 3, rather than four?

just a thought, kinda curious as to what you guys think of this

I prefer to have an entrance and an exit hole for better tracking.

Double lung pass through broadside is your best shot hands down. You get two holes and the biggest target allowing for more room for error. Also any deer double lunged will bleed alot and not go far. It doesn't matter if you have an arrow still in the animal, piercing both lungs and having two holes for the blood to leave you a trail is always best. WCL

X2 cause 100 to200 yds with no blood can be disasterous.

Rory, you are dead wrong brother, while that is a perfect shot, you need to have that exit hole, trust me, it make tracking much easier and shorter....:D

I prefer a justquarter away slightly. The arrow goes in the middle of the lung an comes out just at the white hair line right behind the shoulder at the bottom. Talk about a blood trail!!!! If you can not have a straight double lung then the quarter away shot would be fine.

I polled a similar question before, which was pass through completely? or arrow left in? overwhelmingly the guys said a pass through.....for a blood trail...and just better kill.

However, a guy I know, and another guy in camp at the time agreed that they preferred an arrow to remain in the animal causing much more damage by the broadhead as it ran away....

I think most of us agree the 1/4 away is a great shot, as is the broadside. I guess this is what you're stating that the 1/4 away is better than a broadside.

I think it is a great shot, in some sense you can sneak it in behind the rib cage. I think the broadside is probably a higher chance for a passthrough. Both are great, don't think you can go wrong with either method.

Broad side double lunger pass through w/ his head behind a tree is my definition of perfection
