2008 whitetail rut

i was just wondering what dates you guys are thinking of taking off for bow season? i just noticed that the full moon is a week later this year compared to last year. the full moon is november 13. i just dont know if i want the first week of november or the third week. i have two weeks to use, one will be the 2nd week for sure.

Depends on which state and where you live. In most locals, the second week in November is always good, anywhere like 9-16. If you live in Texas, well it isn't going to happen then.[&:]

The chasing and breeding phase of the rut here (northwest)really picks up from about Nov 17-18 and continues until the the first week of Dec..then it starts tailing off...

Right after Thanksgivingis when I almost always see the oldest bucks finally showing themselves during the daylight..I get 5 days off over Thanksgiving every year.. its great timing for hunting the rut

I will wait for the weather to dictate. Last year, I called it perfectly - all phases were a bit later than normal in my area, as a result of the summerlike weather we had in October. Unfortunately I have not been able to confirm this with the fawn drop this month as I have not had time to be in the woods.

However it does not flucuate that much - maybe 3-5 days total.
