call me a poacher, but I've always shot big velvet bucks in the fields in late August - just using the same justification ya'll are using on snakes

of course you know statisitcally only 5-10 people die from snakerelated injuriesin the US every year, about 120-130 people die from deer related ones

thus deer are far more dangerous, and we should kill them whenever we can and help save lives

right ? Just using the same logic and applying it to a greater danger is all

like I said, ignorance

snakes are beneficial to the ecosystem. ya'll call yourselves sportsman on one hand, and then on the other kill every snake you see and that shows your true colors

I doubt 1 of 10 here can even identify common snakes, much less know poisonous from non-poisonous. I'm not an expert by far, but watching people who call themselves sportsman and conservationists slaughter animals for no reason again just shows the ignorance many people have.

If you don't have a damn good reason to kill it, don't. Its very likely against the law anyway (its is in my state anyway) and killing a snake illegally is absolutley just as much poaching as shooting a big velvet buck in July.

I'm ashamed that I have to be associated with hunters like ya'll [:o]
I know that the garden snakes looked allot like ralle snakes but they don't have rattles but I have seen enough rattle snakes to know one when I see one. You actually are helping wildlife by shooting a rattle snake because incase you didn't know rattle snakes eat quail eggs and any other small game bird eggs that are laid on the ground and rattle snakes eat baby turkey when they are hatched so I figure every rattle snake you shoot you really help things out so they don't eat game birds and I had one of our dogs get bite by a rattle snake to and luckely it lived but it was a big vet bill. Just so you know why I shoot them.

I live in Alabama, we have more Mocasins than anything else, but a snake is a snake, and should die. Except for the little garden snakes, thier fun to play with. ( great for pulling pranks)

Yall should check out the "sporting dogs" forum. Cara lives in Tx. and one of her hounds got bit on the nose by a rattler. there arepics of before and after.( looks bad)

Well we all have our opinions. I'm not breaking any laws and i hate snakes, you belong in the tomb of snakes from Indiana Jones as you are so loving/inclined to save them (btw.. Indiana hates snakes too :))

hey you dont have to be , the only reason they are beneficial for the environment is cuz they kill mice and rats, put a cat there and it will kill twice as much and cats arent dangerous for a 5 year old that likes to walk around in the woods and play in brush piles............... i will continue killin every rattler i see
