Target Ideas needed. Help?

Well, I cant really afford to blow 80 plus bucks for a decent sized blocktarget so I was wondering if hay bales would stop an arrow very well(Field point)? I would just come up with a way to hang paper targets on them. Otherwise if you have any better ideasPlease.

Thanks Guys

Find someplace that gets pallets of "stuff" wrapped in the industrial saran-wrap. Wad that stuff up into a burlap sack. It's AMAZINGLY effect. Lasts a decent time and it can be next to free.

You can also take cardboard or layers of foam and press them together with 2X8 and all-thread rods That one's heavy and will cost you the 2x8 and all-thread rod. Lasts longer and is easy to "repack".

With todays bows I don't think hay-bales are gonna do it. But we can still get by on the cheap. Both those targets ^^^ work as good as any "bought" target. They just don't have the durability. (They'll still be the tar out of a hay bale though!)

go with the plastic burlap bags and the shrink wrap plastic . works great and very cheap to make. you could also stuff it with old clothes or shopping bags . as it wears out just put in another bag and re stuff

Hay bales work great depending on the distances youre shooting from. I have had no problem using bales at all.

Get a bag target, they are cheaper and work better in my opinion. I'm not all that impressed with the block type targets for the money. A good bag target should last a while if you take care of it. One good pointer is to try and keep them dry and out of direct sunlight. You can shoot with them in the sun, just put it away when you are done. It will help it last longer. If you leave it out in the elements all the time it won't last as long.

Get a couple bails of hay and hang a old telephone directory on it it should last a whole season of shooting. Drill a hole through the phone book and hang it with a piece of rope, right on the bails. It even stops crossbow bolts

Thanks for the help guys! I would never have come up with any of those things. We get alot of industrial wrapped pallets at work so I will try that one first.
