no peep sight

My buddy shoots with no peep sight on his compound and hes got the most wicked sick shot ever! I seen him throw a bottle in the air today and nailed it with his recurve. Then again he's been doing this since he was 11y/o. He don't use a peep sight on anything though. Not sure if recurves and longbows come with them but thats what he learned with and prefers hunting with the longbow.

Anyone else shoot without a peep sight I'm just curious?

Gene Wensel said shooting a recurve is like throwing rocks.

If you throw enough of them you get pretty good;)

Does your buddy use a sight at all on his compound?

I shoot both compound and recurve with no sights. I am by no streach of the imagination a great target archer but out in the field where distances have to be estimated I do pretty well against my friends who use sights.

I have considered trying that.
I guess as long as your anchor point is consistent you should still be accurate.

Not to mention that if you could do it accurately, you could get on target much, much faster. That might just be worth a try.

I've never used a peep but I do use a kisser button. I tried a peep sight once and didn't like it[:'(].

As long as your head stays in the same position also....

I tried to shoot w/out a peep......just couldn't do it. VERY inconsistent I was. I did, however, remove the kisser button and get along just fine.

I can shoot without a peep, I don't shoot as well but plenty well enough to hunt. I wouldn't try shooting spots that way however. If you want to try it check out the Timberline No Peep. That is what I did and it helped me quite a bit. After using it for a while I was consistent enough that I could shoot without it.

I do have one question about shooting with sights but no peep. Wouldn't you have to "tweak" your sight a little one way or the other to do this accurately? Seems to me that if you just removed your peep, your string would block your view of the pins. ????

I havent shot with one for the last two years...5 shots and 5 deer down is ok in my book without a peep. Only problem is that I do not shoot out past 30 yards anymore because my groups deteriorate fairly quick after 30 yards with no peep. Still thinking of getting a wide peep for this year just in case a nice buck comes along at 35-40 yards.....

Have any of you guys shot with a peep eliminator if so does your accuracy suffer? and does the string get in the way and blur things up?

I've never used a peep, or a release...I do use 2 sight pins...No problem with the string, it's just a blur that close to the eye...

I am shooting with out a peep with my reflex. I am trying to set up the timberline no peep but having trouble with it. But I am still shooting good with out the peep and no peep.
