Here is the BEST sollution to having your stand stolen.
This is the ONLY way to go, a SUMMIT climbing treestand. Take it in when you go and carry out when you leave. Weighs only 20 lbs. I'm 47 years old, weigh around 280 lbs. and walk about 1/4 mile to my stand, if I can do it, I know you younger guys can too. As far as catching the thieves, I think I would just have to shoot them.......then mount their heads on my trophy wall.

Irealy like the one about the bear trap, dig a hole just under the frist of you ladder stand or screw in step then put some leaves over it then wait till the scum to show up he gets his foot caught in that i'll bet he'll think again before he take another stand:D:D

ORIGINAL: MNpurple

I too have lost stands, on provate property. On each of my stands, I have a laminated card attached and visible that reads something to the effect of "Before you steal this treestand, please be aware that your picture has already been taken, and the authorities will be contacting you shortly"

Its BS, I dont have their picture, but it makes a person think twice about ripping that stand down.........especially now in the age of trail cameras and videos because it certainly could be true. Knock on wood, I havent lost one since I started attaching this card.

Now if my thief is on here, well then I just blew my cover[:@]

Excellent Idea!!

Dont leave them in the woods espesially during the off season. I have tried to chain them up before, short of a 50lb logging chain, you cant put out much that a high power rifle cant saw through.
The only thing a chain does is keep bow-hunters from being theives.
