Most attempted poachings ever survived????

Last night an older buck was hit down the road from the house. The sherriff deputy was called to dispatch it(just happens to be a hunting buddy)and of course we road out there to see which buck it was. When we arrived we were amazed to find this guy had at least 5 wounds from what appear to be either arrow or gunshot wounds. One is through his nose, the other four are complete pass throughs in his abdomen, shoulders, and hip area. HAVE YOU EVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS? We were all amazed at this and honestly no one recognized the buck either.

We guessed this buck to be over 5 due to the teeth nearly being gone. Its ashame such a creature survives all these wounds and is taken out by a 2000 Honda. Maybe we are hunting with the wrong equipment. LOL

So why are you jumping to conclusing and the thread title "poaching" and your not assuming it was hit in legal manners during legal seasons?

Sometimes we are our own worst enemies.

The legality of the means of the inflicted wounds on the buck in question aside, I have found evidence of wounds on almost all the 3.5 and older bucks I have dressed. My uncle found about 8" of arrow inside the chest cavity (yep) of a monster he took last year. I have found a couple shotgun slugs, several obvious arrow scars(and many other unknown scars), and two .22 caliber bullets (totally Illegal) in various deer I have proccessed. There is a MAJOR poaching problem around here but I have found most wounds come from legitimate means....as the poachers rarely miss what their aiming at.:(

We live in poaching county NC. Poaching is the worst I have ever seen around here. You could tell on the deer that these were notbroadhead wounds(ifit were arrows they were field tips)or high powered rifle wounds. Most looked like .22 scars or something very small in size.
