Deer on 2 legs

Just logged on to RDHC's deer cam to see if there were any deer at the feeder and one of the first images to come across was the one below. I've never seen a deer stand on it's hind legs in person. Anyone else?

Why do they do it besides he obvious of reaching high branches?

I have. They do it to reach fauna they can't reach on 4 legs.

I watched a BB stand on it's back legs to reach a licking branch, once, too.

I don't think it's that unusual

if u bait you'll see it quite often... at least i did when i used to bait corn in piles... does would get up on hind legs an hit each other with there front legs... especially if one group of doe's came in then another usuallya deer from each group would "spar" so to say... very very entertaing

Not unusual, unless it puts on an orange vest and picks up a rifle

Interesting stuff!
I've never hunted in a state that allowed baiting, so no experience with it.

I shot a large doe a couple of yers ago that was having what appeared to be a slap boxing match with another doe 25 yards in front of my stand. I'm not sure if they were fighting over the general area but she stayed and I made sure I did my part;)

Did you take out the winner or the loser?

I'm not sure I know who the winner was, but I shot the one that stayed by the stand while it was feeding.

I've seen it a few times, but the coolest was watching a doe stand on her hind legs for minutes at a time pulling persimmons off the tree. I thought that they waited for them to hit the ground, but I was wrong. I would have take photo/video but I was at the McAlester Army Ammunitions plant and you cant have anything with glass, lenses, or battery power... that means no cameras, RF's, binos, etc.

I guess that would make her the loser!:D

Great pic!

Weird. I guess this is much more common than I had thought. The ones standing up look like they're looking down their snouts at the 4 leggers!

Anyone know how far a deer can walk on their hind legs or how long they can stay up on their hind legs?

I got pictures of them in the winter doing this all the time. Its like there boxing over my shelled corn. They do it at each other though as there sparring!
