Ya.. ummmmmm.... aaaaaaauugh.... you can't do that with Scent-Lok or ScentBlocker. The whole idea when you use them.. is not to have any scent.
I sprayed the bottom of the boots ONLY to try to eliminate any scent being on the ground from my footsteps. Here's a standing offer to the makers or believes of scent "control" clothing. I'll bet a dog that can smell narcotics and expolsives through practically any fabric or material, ain't going to have a hard time smelling YOUeven if you are completely incased in scent lok.Who wants to go up against my my dog? Any takers? Scent control has nothing to do with Scent Loc or Scentblocker.
Apples and oranges. When you can tell me what it is that sets a deer off...

As far as following a trail a lot of people can and they aint smelling nothing.

You should give some thought to training some deer and see how well they do at tracking things down. Now that would be a test.

Here is what has always baffled me. A guy spends a couple hundred or so on a scentblocking outfit, sprays down the boots and pack etc but does nothing for bad breath?
Some brush their teeth before hunting. I used to use baking soda but change to just tooth paste.

I also use one of the few products on the market that is safe to use on clothes, skin and in your mouth as a wash, Hawg's vanishing hunter. Stuff works! I'd hunt in street clothes if I had a bottle of this stuff. They claim it has no shelf life, but I'm convinced it does, that or freezing effects it.

My Dad has tried it with his Bloodhound Klem numerous times. The only time he ever fooled the dog was when he had his Scentlok suit fresh from the dryer and used some powder called Stealth Dust. Now Bloodhounds have phenominal sent trailing so I have tried with my dogs. The Black and Tan Coonhound/ Black Lab mix has no problems and the Brittany/Lab mix has no problems smelling past Scentlok.
I use the facemasks and have some pants I like with it built in but always make sure I look beyond the Scentlok and agree with others in that it can be a tool in minimizing scent but not a solution to scent control.

I wore my Scent lok suit and rubber boots, sprayed them down with earth scent.

I won't say you need any sort of Scent-Lok or ScentBlocker... that's like saying you need to have a bow that shoots 320 FPS. It's just an advantage.. nothing more. But it definately will not work when used improperly.. which seems to be its major fault.. hunters who don't read directions or research how to care and use the product.

Oh.. and for those of you court room junkies.. Scent-Lok is being sued not over the effectiveness of the product but rather the arrogance of their slogan.."forget the wind, just hunt". Last I checked a Chevy wasn't really "Like a Rock".. but hey.. this is America and we can sue for just about anything.

And yes.. the product will add more minutes to your normal pre-woods ready time.. but not hours.. more like minutes. And wouldn't you want that extra advantage if it only took just a few minutes? After all we all know whitetail are most proficient with their (100 times better than human) sense of smell.

I know many on here can take a whitetail without the use of this product.. and I understand why one could. If you play the wind.. understand thermals.. and have lower educated whitetail.. you can be effective without the Scent-Lok or the 320 FPS bow.

But I guarantee anyone.. If you use the product correctly.. you will see a much much different change while in the woods this fall. Particularly with the predator population who smell 100 times better than the deer. It's an advantage.. nothing more.
That good stuff right there! Thanks but no thanks!

If you are buying Scent-Lok garments for quality - fit - or whatever (outside of scent absorbtion), I would urge you to look around. Gray Wolf Woolens makes the best stuff you can buy - right in Wisconsin. Best fabrics I've ever used - best camo patterns, etc...

Not cheap - but neigther is gas!

I have been around a few hunters that have all the right gear yet you can smell their rotten breath when they talk or breath if they are within a few feet of you. Why isn't there more emphasis on that? The clothing market is a multimillion dollar deal yet there is a genuaine lack of breath control out there, haha.
Just chew deer droppings
Hahaha, then my breath would smell like crap!
It would fool the deer

GAC works...does scent lok?...About this much, maybe a little more.

Is scent lok needed?

Scent
-Lok® definately needs it.

If this stuff was cheap, then I'd buy the "another scent control tool" angle. But it ain't. If you play the wind when you hunt, you'll be successful. If not, you're BUSTED! I don't know anybody personnally that bow hunts that doesn't practice sound scent control. Sound scent control has nothing to do with Scent Lok or Scentblocker. Does it provide some benefit? Maybe. But a deers sense of smell is 10 times greater than that of a dog. Human scent is all over the woods. My experience, deer use two of their three senses to bust you. Trigger one sense, they'll try to verify with another. I'm not talking about obvious stuff like a stand creeking, or moving fast. How many times have you had deer circle you to get down wind of you? How many times have you seen them put their nose up and start brousing the trees, listening for the slightest sound. Deer aren't neccessarily spooked by sight, sound, or smell. The minute they connect it to a human being present, busted.
