DTX, General, and switch back???
I went and test drove some new bows today. Having been outa date for a while andits time to upgrade...I knowlots of guys who shoot Mathews so thats what I ve had my eye on. I shot the new DXT (sweet) the Switch back (just as sweet) and the shop owner asked me to try the BowTech General.....wow! If it makes since to anybody, it was the softest shooting hard hitting bow I shot!!!

RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
I am a proud owner of a General and let me tell ya ....you will not get any queiter or less hand shock than this bow. However it is not a speed bow. If you go with a light arrow set up you can get some speed out of it! Im lucky to have a 29" draw so I can get some speed. Im shooting 309fps with my General. Sweet bow thats all I will say. Its a little heavier than some other bows but hell mine hangs from the tree anyways!:D

RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
The General is the way to go, dead in your hand and quiet.

RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
I've got a drenalin.......id bypass the DXT and get a Drenalin not a DXT. not sure the switchback is just as sweet.....but ya id choose either a Drenalin or switchback,
My last bow wasn't their best....this time I bought the best, why buy older technology both cost a fair amount, so get the Drenalin. IMO no reason to have a shorter Drenalin....less forgiving, ie the DXT, sure its popular/marketing, but I have and would still get a Drenalin. |
RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
General, hands down.
|
RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
????? whats wrong with the DXT?
|
RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
ORIGINAL: backnaction34 ????? whats wrong with the DXT? Don't say maneuverability because if you are in that close of quarters, you probably aren't making a good shot to begin with. A bow that short is VERY critical. |

RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
I shot them all a while back, they all shot nice I thought. But I thought the general was heavy so we put it on the scale and the scale confirmed it. It was 2 lbs heavier setup than the DXT setup, not a big deal if your sitting in a tree. But if you plan on lugging it around that weight makes a big difference at the end of the day to me.
Each to his own, good luck with your new bow! |
RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
One word for when i picked up the general----heavy
One word for when i shot the general----WOW! |
RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
Buckmaster, I thought the same thing...WOW. I am sceptical of the extra moving parts....
That is one sweet fealing bow! |
RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
just got a switchback in the process of dressing it out let you know but I believe I got a winner

RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
ive got about 1800 shots through my general and i love it. it is one hell of a bow. here is how to describe it. Slow and heavy=the bad. dead in the hand, and insanely quiet= the good. on the goods, it is best in its class imo. its not fast or light but you wont shoot a bow that is quieter (naked) or more vibration and shock free. it is also short.
btw, the drenalin was my next choice. it is a sweet shooter as well. |
RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
Bought the general right when I could, love the smooth mods, but I have the speed mod, still just an awesome bow, have a 29" Draw and am shooting @ 305 fps. If you want speed the 101st, is awesome I like it more then the 82nd, just because of the brace height makes it way smoother i.m.o

RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
I'll put my Switchbacl XT up against any of them. Very quiet, no hand shock or vibration super accurate and not at all bad to tromp up one mountain and down the other. Of the three animals I have taken with it, not one jumped the string or had any idea what happened.

RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
I just got my General...WOW! I was in love the when I first let one fly. I shot a couple of other bows (katera, 101st, drenalin, truth2) I just
kept goin back to General. Great product!I can't wait for the season to start!!! |

RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
Do not get me wrong, I very much like my Black Ice but why are the Bowtechs getting actual speeds closer to their IBO rating and the Diamonds are not?
Does Matthews get actual speeds closer to their IBO rating out of their solocam bows? A couple of red flags there! |
RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
I'm sure others make good bows as well, just IMO seems like Mathews is the leader and everyone else seems to either mimic or catchup, nowadays there may be more competition than their use to be.
All of my Mathews have been amazing. Tack driving.....light, also lets talk about looking good.....ive seen alot of bows outt here that look like a toy? or just some piece of junk with stuff bolted all over to it. I like the simple clean lines of mathews, its a bow and it looks like one. If there is a better bow on the market than my mathews Drenalin, better by more than a hair i'd be surprised, or at the time of purchase lets say....and even now.....i like mine, all I can say. |
RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
I'm sorry but these threads are downright funny! It's like asking what's better ..... FORD or CHEVY?:D
I have a Switchback and love it, I also have a DXT that I've put 2,000+ shots through now and love it. Do I think it's the best bow ever? For me, YES! For you? Who knows! OK, carry on ............. |

RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
Well I just got back in from shooting my new DXT. I love it so far. It pretty much was a toss up.Each had their good points and what it came down to is ...well....its Mathews, its got a be good right! Not in anyway knocking the others but it just felt right. The shopI bought it from didnt have a Drenalin in. Good or bad I didnt get to shoot one. Which ever I had chosen I think is a big jump from my old bow.

RE: DTX, General, and switch back???

RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
Congrats, you'll love it bro. I was torn between the General and DXT too, I ended up with the DXT and couldn't be happier but thinking seriously about buying the General too.

RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
Nice bow, but do you really need a stabalizer that big? Kind of defeats the purpose of a light bow doesn't it? I'm just asking, I have a DXT and had a SB XT before that. I know one thing you don't need a wrist sling, the bow just sits there in your hand after the shot. And to tell you truth the DXT shot just as good for me without a stabalizer as it did with one. A mini s coil is all I would put on it.
Enjoy your new bow! |
RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
I have a DXT on order...can't wait til it gets here:)
|
RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
congrats on the bow, I would have said the General, but if you liked the Mathews better, then you made the right choice!...
Its less about the bow and more about the shooter. We had a shoot out a few weeks ago, the guy who won 1st place in the seinor bowhunter fingers division was shootin a Golden eagle predator he bought about 15 years ago from Wal-mart, most everyone else in the class had Mathews, Hoyt, PSE, etc! |
RE: DTX, General, and switch back???
I own and hunt with a Mathews Switchback and love it!
