RE: need help with GPS
If you're looking for a basic GPS just to mark waypoints to get in and out of hunting spots, I believe this would be a great buy for you. I have had 3 different Garmins and love them. I currently use a RINO 530, mainly because of the maps, color screen, radio and coordinate updates from hunting partners.

Yep, good unit. GPS is an awesome. Just don't end up like some folks I know. They follow their GPS out of the woods 20 feet! Bizzare. Learn your area, know the terrain. A GPS is great for marking stands, rub lines, deer trails, blood trails, and more. Takes a lot of the boogieman out of the darkness.

Do you fish much? Another option is a Lowrance I -finder (several models available) that can take a chip (Navonics or Lakemaster). I think the Garmins are tougher but dont have the functionality of a Lowrance with a good chip.

If it's an "H" series good, if not I'd get one that is.

RE: need help with GPS
I mark stand locations an old roads in thick areas. If I get a deer in those areas down an kind of loose my since of location. I just mark the deer an figure the easiest way to him.
