Speaking of pet peeves...no pun intended

Im in the woods before daylight, set up on a few birds roosting. It just got light enough and I called a tom into within 75 yards. This frickin dog comes chasing a deer right through my decoys...no more tom!

It is the end of April, Im hunting 300 acres of private land, and there are dogs running deer! Im furious, this isnt the only time I have seen this hound, but others will appear all through the night and day.

Come on guys! Have some respect for the others surrounding you..and dont just let your hounds go without a purpose! I have created a sanctuary, so I thought, with food plots, etc.

What would you do?

I havent noticed any collars on any of them. They are either leftovers from last season or the dog has escaped a pen somewhere. The warden suggested I try and catch them and call the pound. I have also distributed a dozen printed pictures of the various dogs and put them in mailboxes explaining that the dog could be injured in a beaver trap, or worst of all be in the line of fire on a bird!

This dang dog had to have traveled a couple miles to get to where he is.

If its your private land, this dog has ruined a hunt or someting more than once, and no one has claimed it i would have to say either shoot it or do as the warden says and trap it and call the pound.

I had a dog chasing deer on some property I hunted years ago. Lets just say I broke him of that habit.

The dog doesn't appear to be feral but if theres other dogs out there and the dog does appear to be walking a used road so maybe the dog is just walking back home or back to the owner. I have shot mangey looking ferals before and the one in this picture doesn't possees any charactertics in a feral dog. Its not the dogs fault but the owners in letting it run loose but I wouldn't shoot someones pet either. Have you tried animal control?

If you knew my zipcode you would understand our animal control! Our animal control is whatever ammo we have to spare. I called the warden, I feel that was sufficient. Im carrying my crossbow with me next hunt. I have a dog, and would hate for anything to happen to him. Someone said it best...its the owners fault.

That road he is walking on is about 60 yrds long connecting two fields...so I doubt that he was following it home.
