There is not a single hunter on this forum that needs the meat,if you can buy a computer and have the internet you can buy a cow. I am not a farmer so i do not "havest" deer. I and all of you are killers, predators. If you heat dosent pound for a spike the same as a 10 point, take up golf.If u choose to take only mature deer great. So stoptelling other hunters there wrong for shooting a young deer.

I don't care if you're a meat hunter or a trophy hunter, it's every hunters dream to take a trophy buck. I don't think there isa meat hunterout there who if the chance arose with a doe weighing 150 lbs came through with a 130" 130 lb buck would take the doe because they're out for the meat. I hunt in a high pressure area, if I let a young buck walk I used to think the chances of them coming back as a mature buckwere slim. If I decide to take the animal, the chances are now zero of it making it back. I haven't taken a buck in the past, probably 5 years, I love it, I love the challenge of takinga mature doe. Most cases you have to fool six or more eyes, not just two. I see everything changing where I hunt, nothing changes the mentality of a meat hunter more than when they bring in their small buck and you can tell them a story of passingthat sameup, or better show them the video.

I'll kill a doe before I kill a small buck....
I hunt Public property, I primarily buck hunt with my bow almost every day of that season, if its an 8 point, its dead. period.
If I do not kill a buck with my bow, gun season starts. This season also runs into my duck and goose season, that's poor cause I'd rather do that.
So, once gun season starts running into my duck season, I take the morning off and I'll go gun a doe for table fare, by the time gun season starts I can tell you almost what deer is in what area, so I can be pretty selective with my harvest, Pretty much have to be since I'm allowed 1 deer a year.
Here's this years doe. She's a tank and she sure does taste good.

For me I have progressed over the years to shooting anything to typically not wanting to shoot anything without a decent 7 point rack or better these days......but people can do what they want IMO in regards to hunting, as long as it is legal.

I hunt public land and hold out for a130 class but thats one of the good things about living in the USA, I'll do what I want and you do what you want as long as it's legal, we are all on the same team.

No one is knocking anyone pal. I was inquiring so that I could simply understand better. As far as the "for most of us its a struggle...," I go to school 2 hours away from my hunting area and skipping class to hunt is out of the question at my university. Weekends? If I'm lucky. I wouldn't judge another until you've walked in their shoes.

In my attempt to be more politically correct and more friendly with the anti-hunting community, I believe harvest is a better suited word. In your basic ecology course you will also learn that in population dynamic models harvest or take is also the chosen vernacular in dealing with many predators as well. Again, I don't believe has told anyone how to hunt and that was made clear initially. Furthermore, you're kidding yourself if you think you get as excited for a spike as you would if a booner were to come walking through the woods. Haha, just reread your last sentence one more time, I don't believe anyone has said it is wrong, perhaps you are inferring such a thing but it was never implied.
