What do you say when an anti posts a picture of a whitetail doe and says,"aaawwww, she's so cute, do you want to shoot her?". I am sure you talk about wildlife management and population control and so on because you know they must not understand any of that or they wouldn't ask such a silly question, right?

Everyone complains that bad pictures are fuel for the anti hunters but, really, it's threads like these, that are fuel for the anti's.

Yeah VA, didn't you know?? The antis are watchingus, they are circling right now in little black helicopters, recording and analyzing all of our threads. This giraffe thread will certainly be all the ammo they need to shut us down for good!! Thanks a lot VA! ;);)

I'm not naive either, I just believe that hunting is ours to keep not theirs to take and we decide our own fate as far as hunting goes.

Well, when we have hunters that disparage hunting I would say we are giving it away, not keeping it and what kind of fate do you think will be decided if hunters keep giving away any type of hunting they may not like or agree with?

I guess I'm just not viewing the thread the same way, I don't think VA was tearing down a form of hunting I think he just can't see why anyone would want to hunt giraffes and coming from a smalltown VA background myself I can understand his view on it. That is just something we would never hear about or know of anyone doing in our whole lives here(without exposure to a site like this). I look at giraffes as goofy lanky animals that look funny when they run. Now granted that is probably because I have no real first hand knowledge of a giraffe only pictures, tv, and the zoo. So to me that is what I think of when I think of a giraffe, a zoo animal and because of that I have no interest in hunting/shooting one.

However,I fully realize there are people that would like to travel to where wild giraffes live and hunt them in their enviornment and add them to their trophy wall and feed the local villagers to boot. No biggie, I can't really relate to having the desire to hunt giraffe or high dollar exotic trophy huntingbut if someone else wants to thats fine.It does seem like killing something just for thetrophy aspect to me but heck that happens every season all across the states,I don't love it or hate it,it's just not me and I canunderstand why VA looks at itwith a certain"what the heck is that about" type feeling.

At the same time it is legal hunting so even though it's not for me and I am admittedly ignorant to much about itI don't want it banned or anything. I have been thinking about going on a guided Ostrich hunt myself, they look kind of like giraffes.

That's just it though. Get into a debate about deer hunting with an anti and you will probably hear something like this:

I look atdeer as pretty animals that look look like Bambi. Now granted that is probably because I have no real first hand knowledge of adeer, only pictures, tv, and the movies. So to me that is what I think of when I think of a deer, bambi, and because of that I have no interest in hunting/shooting one.

The only difference is that you say you wouldn't want to ban giraffe hunting. The real question is: Would you fight just as hard to maintain giraffe hunting (or Ostrich hunting)as you would to maintain deer hunting ;)?

Well I don't know Bruce where is the fight? Who are we fighting? Is there a Save Giraffe Hunting Petition going around? Save Deer Hunting? Hell, I'll sign both of them. That's my point we are on a hunting site just bs'ing, talking, debating, mainly just stating opinions. There was no fight here, no one trying to ban giraffe hunting ot trophy hunting or anything.

Inall honesty I don't know crap about hunting in Africa and I probably never will so I wouldn't even know if someone were trying to ban gazelle,giraffe,zebra, etc hunting. So maybe I am not a good well rounded hunter who supports all things huntingeverywhere in the world. But I also don't think saying"Giraffes are goofy and why the hell would youwant to hunt one of those?" meanssomeone is turning his back on his huntingfamily, ratherjust stating an opinion.Some agree, some disagree, most don't evencare and are just bored at work so they respond;);).
