PA turkey Opener!

Well, Pro Staffer Adam Butchko, Superarm tree arm owner Dan Visocky, and myself went out this morning well before first light. We set up two double bull blinds surrounding the B-Mobile and his hen. Our intention was to tape Adam shooting a bird from two different camera angles.

Right after first light the birds came off the roost and went silent. A few short minutes later a BIG mature longbeard was spotted coming in on a rope. We only got maybe a minute of footage before the big Tom took a Crimson Talon through the boiler room!!! Two camera angles, with a luminock to boot!

After a short followup video session, we moved a couple hundred yards to a gasline and set up again. Things got really quiet for a while, but around 8:30 I suggested to Dan to try a gobble call. That woke up every Tom in the woods!!!

We had two Jakes run into the decoys, which again were about 5 yards from the blinds. I chose to not shoot a jake, but good `ol Dan had two tags, so he had no problem with drilling the bigger of the two!

After that one we had two hunters walk in on us, so we called it a day.

Both birds were killed on film, with two different camera angles. The second bird, Dan`s, was a tough film, but the footage is not bad. Adam`s bird was taped from two totally different angles. A 6 yard shot, and about 4 yards from the second blind!!!

Since we cannot hunt on sundays in PA , I will have to wait until monday to get my chance.

BTW, the Crimson Talon XT broadheads sure do a number on turkeys!! Adam`s bird went maybe 10 feet at the most.

Dan hit his bird a little far back, and it immediately went verticle, clearing the tops of mature trees. It flew maybe 50 yards and then it looked like somebody dropped a bowling ball out of an airplane!

We sat in the blinds and giggled like little girls while two other Tom`s tore half the feathers off of the dead bird!

All in all, not a bad morning of turkey hunting. [/align]

Thank`s!:)

Hunted in a downpour on monday with no Tom`s in bow range. Hunted again this morning.....in another downpour, with temps at a balmy 34 degrees![:@]

I did fill my tag today though. Footage is pretty good. Neat to see the rain hammering on the bird as he came to the decoys. I lengthy 8 yard shot put him in the great beyond.

Gotta love bowhunting turkeys!!:D

Congrats BC, did you kill your bird with one of your new bows or the compound???

I killed it with one of my new "compound" bows.;)

Had I known that I could get away with setting the decoys up at 5 yards, I would have taken a recurve. Even I can hit a turkey at 5 yards with trad gear!!:D

Congrats on the birds. That footage should be awesome with 2 different camera angles. I hope to see it.
