GOt a question for you.....Is your XD unbelievably loud. I have the XD 40 and man that sucker is loud. I left my plugs in the truck and figured I would just squeeze off a round at my target. Bad mistake, my ears instantly rang.

Nice Mich. I just bought an M&P .45 in the dark earth frame... I've never felt so uncapable in my entire life! Put a shotgun or a rifle in my hands and I can usually hold my own pretty well... NOT with the pistol. I hit a copenhagen can twice at 15 yards out of a full magazine and was overjoyed.
I'm hoping with some practice I'd be able to hit a grizzly at 10 yards:D |
RE: Bows & Pistols
I second that....pistols are a whole different animal all together. But the make it look so easy in the movies

RE: Bows & Pistols
ORIGINAL: magicman54494 Now you can feel safe entering the killer doe ridden Michigan woods! I just happened on an outdoor radio show the other day and the guest was a morrel hunter in Mich and Ohio. He never enters the woods naked. Claims you don't want to encounter a badger or hog without some protection. Heard another story the same day of a boy in S.E. Ohio who was attacked by a hog. If this kids dad had been prepared would he have justbeen prepared to "feel safe"? The kid made it up a tree where the dad found him. There isa much bigger picture. I wonder how many "real men" came across that hog before and did nothing? Why should animals many of them protected from man and also many of them predators feel anything but superior to man? An animal that attacksus will attack someone who is "less of a man" like kids. Protected predators are being found every where, we have large wild cats right here in N.W Ohio. The dnr knows about it and they're not hiding. Getting into peoples trash. It's time to be prepared to protect some kid we'll never see from being attacked while playing in his or her yard.Or would it be better to react to a situation irrationaly, after the fact with little to no training? |
RE: Bows & Pistols
I only count nine holes. Does that mean your shooting consistantly or did 4 of them decide to take the day off.:D
One thing about that caliber, all those hits are more than enough tochange most anythings mindfrom coming any closer.:D Heard the other day that a 45 after exiting a target will not have enough power to go through a hollow core door. If that's true that a very good thing. |

RE: Bows & Pistols
I was free firing...at 50 yards today with a bench rest I was able to put 13 rounds in a 4 - 5 inch circle...Not bad for a 4 inch barrel...
Kimber? Awesome!!..I wanted to stay in the 500 dollar range...may buy a Kimber for concealing...I like the short model they make for concealing |
RE: Bows & Pistols
I have not shot without the plugs...but she barks...

RE: Bows & Pistols
M&P...is sweet Dubbya...I played with it before I bought the springfield and just took the XD because I like the way it came apart vs. M&P..the smith seemed to have alot going on in the guts....BUT....both great guns..!!
If you practice and squeeze...and follow through with your trigger...you will flip cans at 50 yards...with a gun rest... |

RE: Bows & Pistols
My brother had some fun with his and here's a little field review. He sent me this email:
"Hey Just had to tell you a funny story. I hunted with Ted saterday in Culpeper where we hunted last time you were here. Long story short I ran into a group of about 15 good size hogs and got a shot at one with my 45 ACP pistol at 30 yards and shot low (I think I pulled my shot). I told myself the next time I hunt there I need to take my 357 mag better yet my 44 mag. I hunted down there today and didn't pull one of the 2 pistols out of the safe and I forgot to grab a couple of rounds of buckshot so you guesed it we were walking down that main road and there were 10 to 15 little hogs in the road about the size of a ground hog and a couple of good size sows. I put the creep one one of the sows got 20 yards away and put a 45 slug in her she spun and took of in the thick pines the little ones ran right at Ted and me and we cut lose with the 12 guages. It was quite a maylay when the dust settled we wacked 4 of them. That place is crawling with hogs I want to put a fedder up down there and try to get some of those big porkers! A long look in the pines and we were not able to find the pig I shot I might have hit that plate on her shoulder." :D |
RE: Bows & Pistols
I heard the 900 fps 45 with a 230 gr. bullet was designed to go inside something...and make a mess....A pass through with this gun is kinda short changing it...:)
