I'm a pure BT shooter, a BT release for target, and a 3 finger thumb trigger for hunting.
There are MANY shooters who are fooling themselves by thinking they are using backtension.

I actually utilize both methods. I will command the trigger if the time window is short. Given a larger window to aim and set up the shot, I let it go with back tension. Practice both methods.
