RE: Bowhunting time allotment

A large percentage of my disposable income goes towards hunting, be it equpiment, clothing, seed/minerals. Time-wise I spent less time in the woods last season due to familiy obligations but still logged close to 200 hours on stand with my vacation time, comp days and weekends.

RE: Bowhunting time allotment

My whole life basically revolves around hunting season - so I've found hobbies that are never in conflict..

January - Skiing and hunting with primitive gear (if I have any tags left)
February - Shed hunting
March - Shed hunting
April - Shed hunting/turkey scouting (simultaneously)
May - Turkey Season
June - Long Range Groundhog Hunting/ Mountain Biking
July -Long Range GroundhogHunting/ Summer Vacation / Mountain Biking
August - Still walking around with the Groundhog gun, but now I'm glassing deer with it.
September - Glassing deer and checking the oak groves for mast. Shooting bow.
October - Bow hunting
November - Early November is archery, later November is gun season
December - Early December is gun season, then Christmas/Skiing

I actually do a little bit of fishing - but it's sprinkled around throughout the year - and I only go fishing if I have nothing else to do. A hobby of last resort, if you will.

I really only have 2 hobbies, bowhunting and 3-D archery...... bowhunting gets the majority of my hobby time and money.

RE: Bowhunting time allotment

For me I spend probably 60% bowhunting/scouting/working on the property to improve bowhunting, and 30% on competitive archery stuff.......the other 10% is spread over a mix of other recreational things such as fishing, hiking, etc.

I see this balancing back out over time, with a continued 60%+ on bowhunting, but the other time being more focused on activities that Lisa can share with me. She loves to fish and I love to do this also, but haven't done much while I've been trying to compete in archery. This consumes a lot of time and prevents me from doing other things I have been involved in over the years. I think I've got another year or two of pushing really hard in this area just to see what I can do but I know I won't be able to pursue it like this forever.
