There tough, but.....
I know deer are tough, but I was watching some PBR the other night and those guys are the toughest creatures on earth!!!!!! Holy moly! I have watched it periodically for years, but it always amazes me at how freakin tough a bull rider is. Ain't no way Id climb on one, would you??

RE: There tough, but.....
Nope, I had a buddy that wanted to try it. He got on a very young and small bull and got tossed very quickly. The bull stepped on his ankle. Fortunately he came out of it with a bad limp and an education instead of a shattered ankle.
I rode a mechanical bull once and my legs were hurting for a week after that. No thanks to the real thing. |
RE: There tough, but.....
My son got on one about 1.5yrs ago. He hasn't asked to do it again.;)

RE: There tough, but.....
That's terrible man.
|
RE: There tough, but.....
I'd give it a go, if the opportunity presented itself. I've ridden mechanical bulls and done fairly well, though I know its no comparison. I'd think it'd be a blast.
|
RE: There tough, but.....
Oh it would be blast alright.....:D
|
RE: There tough, but.....
Oh I know it'd work me over, if not seriously hurt or kill me... But that's half the fun. ;)
|
RE: There tough, but.....
Ignorance is bliss. (I guess)[:-]
|
RE: There tough, but.....
Riding a bull is on my "to do" list before I die. I'm not talking a PBR bull or anything, but you see the people ride the ones on Real World, and stuff and I think it would be alot of fun!

My son is bigger than you.[8D] |
RE: There tough, but.....
Have been there and done that. I'm 6'2" now but when i was in the rodeo curcuit i was 5'11". I rode mostly bare-back broncs but i did ride some bulls along the way and it was like sitting on a 1 ton cruise missile that could explode and kill you or just give you the ride of your life!! The bulls weren't for me but the broncs, thats a different story!!

RE: There tough, but.....
I'm moreinto sliniging bullinstead of riding.
|
RE: There tough, but.....
No way I would ride a bull. I have had friends do it and they made hardly any money and got their tails stomped. I'd rather wash over a crab boat and die than be parilyzed by a bull snapping my neck or back. I have done plenty of stupid things in life but bull riding will never be one, those guys are mean lil son of a guns and plain crazy!

RE: There tough, but.....
From the stories I have heard from the GTG and camping with Germ .......would that count?[8D]
|
RE: There tough, but.....
I used to think I'd like to try it. (do they even have women's bullriding??)
Nowadays, I don't have to go looking for pain... the challenge is keeping it away. That's enough for me. |
RE: There tough, but.....
What do they tell their insurance companies!!??
I ride bulls for a living? ![]() |
RE: There tough, but.....
I will also add... Antonio Moraes is hot.
:D |

Yeh Christine, my wife agreeswith ya about AndreasMoraes!! She loves him...
|
RE: There tough, but.....
I'd do it in a heart beat if I had the chance!! I love pushing myself though. These PBR guys to me are some of the best athletes around.

RE: There tough, but.....
This thread reminds me of a little story from my college days. One of my best friends in college, a guy that played football with me in Dillon (great athlete) Jess Martin was his name, was and still is a very well accomplished PRO rodeo saddle bronc rider... I think Jess' s best ever finish is 3rd in the World.
Well one springwe had this recruit come in for a visit. He was kind of shooting his mouth off a bit down at the local watering hole.. He made the statement to Jess, myself and a few other guys that he rode bulls! Of course Jess and few other real deal cowboys sorta called the guy on it and took him down to the buckin shoots in the middle of the night therein Dillon and put the guy on abull. We never saw that recruit again... LMAO Living in and around Pro Rodeo guys like Jess Martin, Ryan Mapston to name a few, those years I spent in Dillon really showed me just how athletic they were and they were as tough as they come.. here is a Bronze made of my friend Jess.. titled "Magic Martin" |
RE: There tough, but.....

RE: There tough, but.....
Not me, I'm too dang old...:D
Besides, Jerome Davis lives about 15 miles up the road... |
RE: There tough, but.....
I'd forgotten about this story but a long time ago I was in the practice pen and was wearing a ball cap that I'd worn hunting a few times. Back then I'd put Doe-P on my hunting clothes, (yeah, don't start) and I bucked off this bull called Snuffy who wasn't real big but had a reputation of coming after you (contrary to popular belief most of them won't bother you unless your in their way) after the ride. My hat came off as I was scrambling for the fence. I didn't realize it until I watched the tape back but ol' Snuffy had me dead to rights until he came to the hat. He stopped dead in his tracks and sniffed it, I guess it was the doe pee b/c I'd never had one do that before or after. It gave me enough time to get out of harms way. All's well that ends well. :D

RE: There tough, but.....
Maybe, it would just depend on the situation. I do believe though that those guys on the pbr are some of the toughest guys around.
|
RE: There tough, but.....
I don't even like horses......let alone a bull....
|
RE: There tough, but.....
Bulls can be very exciting! This is a pic of my buddy's dairy bull where I hunt up north. He's not a rodeo bull but he WILL attack you if you get too close to him or "his" cows! [:-]
I stay away from the pasture that he's in when I'm out hunting. ![]() |
RE: There tough, but.....
This guy is on a place in Illinois where I hunt. He's not very aggressive but I don't turn my back on him while I'm walking by! (2400 pounds).

RE: There tough, but.....
i would never ride one!
looks like it would hurt the family jewels this is the sport for me ![]() |
RE: There tough, but.....
When I was home working for the summer after my freshman year of college, the whole family went out for ice cream one night. At the DQ there is a sign advertising a Rodeo and that they are looking for "Amateur bull riders."
Being the over-confident young college wrestler I was at the time, I knew that I could do it and told my family that I could. My mom replies, "You don't have the guts." At 19, there was no way I could take that kind of trash talk especially from my mom, so I wrote down the number and called it the next day. The lady on the other end takes down my info and says "Ok you're all signed up, just bring your rope, vest and glove when you come." Having no clue what she was talking about and not wanting to sound like an idiot, I said sounds good. I convinced my boss to sponsor me and pay my $35 entry fee if I wore a work shirt. The day of the rodeo, I showed up and get out of my car with my rope, vest, and glove. My rope was a boat tie rope, my vest was a hunting vest, and my glove was a work glove. I had no idea how off I was on all 3 counts. As I get out of my car, a jacked-up F-150 pulls up next to me and out hop 3 guys in cowboy boots and cowboy hats with ropes, vests, and gloves that looked nothing like my rope, vest, and glove:eek: I start talking to them and aksed them the obvious question if they were there for the rodeo. Of course they said they were and I said I was too. They asked where my rope, vest, and glove were. When I showed them sheepishly, they laughed their a$$e$ off. One guy asks, "You've never ridden a bull before have you?" "Nope, but I dated a fat chick once!" At this point they told me to hide my boat rope, gardening gloves and hunting vest deep in my trunk where no one could possibly see it and said I could use their stuff. Long story shorter, they were great guys and taught me a lot about riding that I had no clue about, including the fact that one of their "strategies" was to have a buddy smack the bull in the balls with a stick right before they left the chutes to get better bucks! I lasted about 4 seconds by my timing of the videotape my dad took that day, not bad for my first and last time bull riding! I still have the video and pull it out a couple times a year to re-live it. I still get the willies everytime I watch it. It was a blast and a rush, but not something I need to do again. Mom apparently didn't watch my ride at all as she had her head buried in her hands the whole time. |
