You bet!! Burn what ever you think will have a good strong smell to it. Last year we did some burns with Vanilla, Code Blue made the stuff and it was unbelievable. We would do a burn while we were re baiting the bait and after we would leave allot of the times the bear would be in there 20 minutes later (camera's are nice)!
Bear are very gun shy in Minnesota because of all the people but that burn we did while baiting was a big help, it was our 1st time burning while baiting. We use to just do burns while we were hunting. In the mountains where your going to be that scent should travel excellent. Its good and light weight for you as well. Bring some other goodies with you as well but a burn would be my way to go about it. Some year I'll get out there and have some fun with this. I like trying new ways of hunting.

Burn some bacon?

Precisely what I was thinking. Do a honey or bacon burn. If you were going to be in there for the whole weekend, I would set the bait and start the burn immedately. It is possible he could show up within a day.

My mom used to work in the kitchen at our local school and she saved all the fryer greese for me and I just mixed it the cheep dog food, worked great and you can rake in front of the logs and pour a bunch of it on the ground and make mud out of it and then the bears will track that greese smell all through the woods and atracked more bears..
