Having never taken a gobbler myself, and not having the opportunity very often to even go after them if not for generous friends like Rob and Rick James........ I'm one step short of hauling out my AR-15 next weekend.;)

Like I said in email Matt my friend, that gobbler wasn't but 100 yards out my front door. Another came from the bottom and went to the field where you all but had him dead last year. It's your year and I have a back up spot.;)

With the bow given the oppurtunity. I had an unexpected chance last year deer hunting. A jake jumped out from the swamp 30 yards away from my stand. If only I'd bought a license for it! I will this year.

I'd take the gun without a doubt. You will learn a LOT about how to effectively hunt turkeys this way. I still love to hunt them with a gun, and will be doing so exclusively this year due to limited time.

I'll have the new 870 SPS out.I'm going to have a blast with it, I can guarantee this.

Sweet! I have the slightly older less tactical looking version of that gun. I also have a new shock absorbing camcorder mount for it to film whatever hapless creature that finds itself in front of it. ;)

If you don't mind me asking, What did that particular 870 go for and where did you get it at? I've been thinking about getting myself a shotgun and Remington seems like a solid choice in that department.

Take the boom-stick man. It's a whole different style of hunting. It's more agressive than any other hunting I do personally, and I LOVE it. We can take 2 birds here in OH, so I'll try to take # 2 withmy bow for the first time ever. . . but I bought a turkey gun a couple years back, and it needs to be warmed up! Plus I sat still fromlate Sept. till early Feb., it's time for some run 'n' gun :D

This particular gun is sold exclusively through D1ck's Sporting Goods and GanderMountain. It's not listed on the Remington sight because it's not available anywhere else. It's basically the same gun as their SPS Shurshot Turkey model though, except my gun came with a ribbed barrel, a red dot scope (that I promptly took off and replaced with a Mueller 2-7x33 w/ illuminated circle dot reticle) and dipped in MOO as compared to APG. I've added in an Indian Creek .665 choke and plan to be shooting2.25oz 3.5" #6 Hevi loads.....it should do 200+ in a 10" circle at 40 yards, I'll know more after I pattern it this weekend with the new choke and loads. [8D] This specific model was on a great sale last week at D1ck'sfor $469 and had a $30 rebate at the time as well. I really think it's the best option out there for a turkey specific bang stick unless you want to spend some big $$$.

Good thing that has a shock absorbing mount, I know mine kicks like a PO'd mule! You will have to bring that camera and maybe I can run it for you while we are teaming up. Can't wait!!
