Broke one of the rods in my blind today

This evenning I got in a hurry setting up my blind and broke one of the side rods on my blind...It still "huntable", but I definately need to fix it. I pulled one end out but the other side seems to be glued in pretty well. Its an Ameristep "Choice Blind". Do you all think I should contact them or try and bring it in the shop this week and fix it myself? Im really not sure if its something they could fix..Anyone else have this happen?

Broke a pole on my double bull, Duct tape worked a while, then DB sent a new one for free.

I'd contact them.

The rod splintered into about 50 strands. I think Im gona bring it in the shop tomorow and take a blowtorch to cut it down to the weld. I e-mailed the company, hopefully they can figure something out for me.

Defintitely order a new rod. I replaced 8 rods a couple of weeks ago and it works like a charm. Let us know how Ameristep handles this issue.

Update: Ameristep customer service said it will cost 16.99+S&H to order a new rod. I believe I will fix it myself. [:@]

That's pretty weak for sure. Double Bull didn't charge anything for my rods. I don't know that there is any way to truly fix it than replacing the rod.

Did you order from Double Bull or from Primos; Double Bull?

Called Primos; Double Bull to replace some of my rods and they wanted to charge me $16 for four poles.

I got the originals from DB and there was no charge.

The second time I got them from primos and had to pay shipping, but I bought some other stuff as well.

Me and my friend work in the mold and dye shop in town. We have tons of carbon rods that are the same diameter as the one I broke. I should be able to patch it up this week when Im not in class.

check that link out man. One of those guys mentions doing the same thing on his DB, and making do with a fiberglass rod from Lowes for a few bucks. it can be found with the for sale signs, it is meant to hold up those type signs. Seems like it would work.

you usuallycan replace just one rod, I had to on mine last fall. I have the dominator blind not the choice but they should be the same. Take the center hub apart by taking the bolt out of the center. that should let you take out the individual rod. Call Tony at arrowsmith's archery shop 262-249-9933 he has the rods in stock and should be able to ship you one pretty cheap. I always keep a spare on hand just in case. BTW the rods arefiberglassI thinkso a torch probably won't do anything other that burn them.

Broke one of my rods 2 years ago.

Had to pay for them, whatever.

Part that pissed me off was that Ameristep took 3 weeks to send it to me. Somehow "forgot" my order??? How does that happen?

Go towalmart and get some back in the camping section. They should have some. The wind took my blind the other day anad took it across the field and into the woods, busted one set of rods, lucky I have some old tents that i dont use, the problem is they are 2 legnths too long, problem easilly solved though. It takes two people...Have one pull the amount of section you dont need from the rexisting rod, have him hold the elastic infront of where you want to cut it, cut and tie a couple knots in the elastic. Good as new. Most rod sections are usually 7-10 lengths. My blind lived to see another day.
