RE: Tred Barta question
Tred would kill the cow (with a longbow, of course), skin it, tan the hide, cut the pattern, stitch it together (with catgut, of course), and blow it up by hand only to take it home so no one can play.

RE: Tred Barta question
Every show I've seen has been with a guide. Is that the hard way? Not in my eyes. I have seen him do public land hunts but always with someone who knows the ropes. I'd like to see him do it the hard way by hunting public land with no one else to help him along and no previous exposure to the land other than maps and internet. That would be the hard way. I do take offense to his shooting at 45 yds when his professed effective range is 20. That should not be happening on national TV. I think that has the potential to hurt us as a group. I am offended by that.
As far as his personality goes I think hes a blowhard. |
RE: Tred Barta question
I agree with peak about first impression syndrome. I find his shows pretty entertaining now. I also dont take anything he says too seriously though, since it's all in the name of entertainment. Being from the area where Tred lives, I can appreciate his so called attitude and demeanor, I know plenty of people just like him, hell I might be like him I dont know. 99% of all the other outdoor shows on tv are shameless wastes of film that are just one long commercial for the sponsors of the day. Out of a 30 minute show, you get 18 minutes of advertising. His doesn't seem to be like that, or if it is, he hides it well.
Plus, how could the guy who's caught more big eye tuna than anyone else be wrong? ORIGINAL: peakrut Nope does not bother me. To each his own. When I first seen him on TV I was like who is the is fool. But I was guilty of first impression syndrome but now after some time I kind of like the guy. |
RE: Tred Barta question
I agree with Charlie on this. I have no problem with someone doing it "harder" than I do it. If I had the time and the gumption to become proficient at traditional archery, I would. But I dont so I wont. Fact is, it is harder. I feel the same way about impressing or offending the antis. I could care less what they think. They will never have enough backing to take down the hunting culture. We contribute way to much money towards the economy vs. their bring nothing to the table existence, for me or "us" to waste time to even worry about it. JMO.
ORIGINAL: Charlie P DO think us compound shooters are threatened when a man makes such a statement (I say "us" as a community). I think we're threatened any time what we do and have so much passion for is in ANY WAY "diminished". |
RE: Tred Barta question
I hate to admit this but that nut makes me laugh.. I dont know maybe I have a strange sense of humor.. I dont take him seriously though..

RE: Tred Barta question
ORIGINAL: GMMAT Just for clarity..... So were gonna praise Waddel for smokin a buck with his recurve ..........after missing a doe by shooting FOUR FEET over her back...... ......and in the same thread put down Tred Barta for "flingin arrows"?[8D] Dude, is someone brown nosin or what? What is your deal with this Tred guy? I dont really understand it. Yea, trad bows take more time to become proficient with? How does this relateto Tred in the least? What about guys like Fred Eichler who go out and do it the same waywithout all the self hype?Does that makeTreds style of hunting harder, guides and private land ranchesand the occassional public land hunt with a "friend" who just so happens to know everything about the place and calls the shots on the hunt...Ive honestly NEVER seen him hunt DIY public land, or private for that matter, by himself....How is "his way" so hard? The reason people view Wadell differently, is because of his shot choice. He missed the doe, bad, but it was a legitimate shot. He didnt state a 15-20 yard effective range then shoot at RUNNING animals at 40 yards+. This is what is considered "flinging arrows" Me thinks someone is attempting to heighten the respect for Trad hunting before they get into it...[8D]:D |
