Today's Walk...Some pictures.

Well I couldn't pass up the chance to get outside after work today with this beautiful PA day we had, so I decided to head on up to check out our food plot (dad just limed and planted some rye/clover last weekend).

Came up to my foodplot from the main entrance, and saw this.

Now I haven't seen a dust bowl in person ever I do believe, but I assume they should have turkey tracks and feathers in them, correct? My first intitial reaction when I came upon it was DUST BOWL...then when I got closer there were no tracks or general sign. Not really sure what did this because there doesn't appear to be any tracks in it, but it certainly wasn't there just a few days ago...any ideas?

Now onto the plot. You can see in the above plot that it's starting to green up fast, but don't get TOO excited;) as most of it appears to be the dang foxtail coming back again[:@] Clover is sprouting, however, and given a nice moist spring, it should take off nicely. Sorry for the terrible focus, I had my little A610 and the manual focus is crappy.

Now on to a piece of property that adjoins us. We have permission (it's a nice older couple) to walk on their land, and I often find myself walking over there and dreaming of buying that place. We've been helping them out for years with chores around there (they're in their mid 70s with no children or relatives really) mowing the field, cutting firewood, plowing the driveway, etc, so we've built a great relationship with them. Anyways, the views from up top of this place are AMAZING. It's ~146 acres of UNHUNTED (for about 50-70yrs) land consisting of everything from large stands of pines, flat oak groves, apple orchards (was an old farm), etc. Anyways I took this picture where my fiance and I would love to build our home someday (actually the owners told my dad if they are to sell, they will offer it to us first, so a guy can dream right;)).

The views are even better off to the left, but I wanted to get back home in case I bumped any birds by accident (they love this field I was in). Thanks for checking the pictures, hope you enjoyed them.

Great pictures Matt.

A dusting bowl is usually quite obvious. They were probably scratching there where you took that picture. The scenery is gorgeous. You need to take that picture this fall when the colors are at their peak for those that don't or can't enjoy PA's gorgeous falls.

They do have the area all scratched up, so I suppose that was probably it. Just the fact that there were not real scratch marks or tracks through me off.

I don't have a picture of it in the fall (I don't think). But how about summer and winter?

Summer

Winter

The winter picture is what I was mentioning in the first post as being to my left. This is about 150yds to the left of where the pictures I took today were. Rob, you will know this...that little red truck is traveling on Rt.15 northbound...got any ideas where I'm at?;)

Thanks. I couldn't live anywhere that didn't have mountains after growing up here.

Thanks Brian, good luck to you as well! Hope to get together one of these weekends again for a shoot.

And because I'm doing the scenic thing...here's a chunk of my bowhunting ground from a year with what turned out to be a good corn crop.

Thanks Matt, I really want to get to an outdoor shoot, it's just my son and daughter play baseball and soccer and it really eats up the free time if you know what I mean. [8D]
