From the Hockey stick to the Bow...

A hockey stick... Nothing special.

It will most assuredlynever spend a day in the woods, hanging in a tree.It won't bedragged through a thicket, or laid down beside a big buck for pictures. But we can learn from it.. .

Stick 'Um.

That's the ticket. Nike/Bauer has developed a new hockey stick grip - called "Stick 'Um" and I can easily see howits utility will easily translatein the archery context.

For anyone who's never held a hockey stick - it's slick. Smooth, painted wood orglassy composite. But not anymore. "Stick 'Um" is this durable, grippy coating that almost feels sticky to the touch. Smooth. Rock hard. But grippy.

This isn't rubber, or that "invelvet" stuff that Bowtech is now dipping with. It feels different - and I'd guess that it's a spray-on material: really nice to the touch and utterly indestructible. My first impression is that itwould be a wonderful riser, treestand or gun stock coating.

Stick 'Um.

Do yourself a favor: next time you're at the sporting goods store - go to the hockey stick rack and pick up the most expensive Nike/Bauer stick in the place. If it's coated with this stuff - you'll know right away. There's no mistaking it.

Just watch and wait. It's coming to a bow or riflestock near you.

...and you'll know the King called it.

Is this going to happen before or after the Teflon coated arrow shafts?:D

I still think the low friction arrow coating is coming. We're not out of the woods yet, Jim.

Kind of like what Browning is doing to their new firearms

Yeah, when this Stick'Um stuff gets wet - it gets even more grippy. There have beencoatings cropping up in all sorts of contexts, but this new stuff that Nike/Bauer has - is really top notch.

I could see that stuff having an application on treestands or gunstocks, but you can keep it away from my bow. I don't want my grip on my bow to be sticky, that would annoy the heck out of me. Then again I don't like that grippy stuff on my hockey sticks either. The only time I would like it is if I drop my stick it would make it easier to pick up with gloves on.
