Broadheads
Well i got my first bow for christmas and have been target practicing atleast twice a week since. Beings this will be my first bow season i have never experienced broadheads (i have only been shooting practice tips). Do you have any suggestions? I will be mule deer/elk hunting this year, currently i'm shooting 100gr target tips. My buddy suggested the G5 striker (must be fixed blades), anyone have some suggestions?

Yep i cant say anything bad about Strikers, they'll be in my quiver this deer season.

RE: Broadheads
Yep tons of great heads out there, you'll get 50 different answers on here. More importantly is sharpen them and put the shot in the boiler room and you'll have a dead deer! Don't forget to practice with your broadheads as well! Good luck and welcome aboard!

RE: Broadheads
I shoot the Montec... I think its fine... My biggest thing with broaheads is that you can't get a few and try them out without dumping 150 bucks to get a performance reference. I wish I could get a few of each somewhere.
You always hear that one BH is better than another but until you get one and shoot it with your setup... you don't really know. I'd see if you had a few buddies with multiple BHs and borrow one of each... |
RE: Broadheads
Suggestions will be all shades of the spectrum. I just picked up some slick tricks. There's a pretty large and loyal fan base and so far, I've found zero bad reviews on them. For your application I would wait for the biggest of slicks, the"Grizz Trick" due in June.

RE: Broadheads
There are lots of good heads so it's not hard to pick a good one. Just be sure to match the head with your setup. check out my website, read through the tuning sections along with all the other free pages. That will help you pick the right head for you. www.broadheadtests.com For the record most people are better off with a mid sized 3 or 4 blade head that balances penetration and cutting surface.

Slicks Tricks are what you should get though! |
