What to do when you find a "deadhead"

I've actually got a chance to go shed hunting a couple of times this year and I've stumbled across a few dead bucks. I have been leaving them for the squirells because I was unsure if you had to call them. They were mostly smaller bucks anyways, but I found one that I would like to go and get. Does anyone knowif you must report them in Iowa? I can see why it might be necessary because poachers could hide the bucks they shot out of season and go and get the antlers afterwords.

Would be your best bet as I think you have to in Iowa. We have to here ( ND ). We ony move them if they are in a farmers field. We find the nearestrock pile or we hang them in a tree belt on the property. Otherwise we leave them where we find them. Never heard ofthem really enforcing it in the spring but better safe then sorry.

I usually start singing touch of gray. Love the video for that song.
