Hey guys,

Today I spent my morning cleaning so I decided to reward myself I was going to spend my afternoon scouting for turkey and shed hunting, this time I remembered to take my camera, and Jeffs post about your hunting areas pushed me to make this post. These are some pictures from my hunting ground here in Indiana County, Pennsylvania. I will add a little about each picture. Bear with me though as there are alot of pictures.

This is just a cool picture I took to show that spring is FINALLY here ;)

This is the north western part of my "honey hole". These woods were timbered in Jan of 07 and it has drastically changed the deers patterns, but it has created some great bedding area for them.

While following a rub line that runs east to west on the northern side of the property I found this scrape that is still active. It doesn't get a ton of activity this time of the year but every week or two it is freshened up.

This is a section of the woods that we refer to as "The Oaks". This area is right behind the landowners house and it use to be a outdoor party area. They had a gazeboo and outhouse sitting in here but they have since fallen down. This is the spot where I got my archery buck last year. To the east of this is the major stagging area, to the south is a swamp with crab apple trees on the other side of it, and to the west is the bedding area from the picture above. The trees are spaced out and are all oaks or hickory and this is a great spot to catch deer before they get into their stagging area.

This is the swamp area as described above. The backside is a good pinch point as the deer really don't like crossing through this anytime its wet. There is a heavy trail at the back that leads into the crab apples and this is the spot that in the 2007 season I had three P&Y bucks come through in one morning.

This is the pond in the golden rod field that is the stagging area mentioned above. Its a really good early season spot for hot days. Hot weather+water= great hunting:D

This is the neighboring property to the south. This is owned by a die hard anti-hunter, but it actually benefits me. This field is one of the biggest bedding areas for deer and they are never pressured. It borders the woods that I have sole access to, so its a win/win situation for me.

Here are two pictures from the field on the east side of the property looking down at the woods that I have permission to hunt. This field is usually planted in corn with alfalfa and clover strips.

This is a picture looking towards where I took the two pictures above. The water tower is for the maximum security prison that is located to the north side of the cornfield.

This is just another neat "for fun" picture I took of a small stream that runs through the woods to the east of the water tower.

This is a different section of the property on the opposite corner of the farm. This is a small clearing in the middle of some thick/nasty brush. This is a major bedding area.

A good sign of things to come this spring

This is where I will be doing my turkey hunting this spring, and this is the field that I missed my gobbler last year. I was set-up in a blind at the end of the point that jets out into the field. He is still in the area and he has a date with my taxidermist, he just doesn't know it yet :D

And finally, on my way home I was walking past a small chunk of property that I have talked about on here before. It is very small, less than 1/4 of an acre that is in a golden rod field about 10 yards off the highway. It is one of the most overlooked areas around, but this is where I have seen the biggest buck I have ever spotted while hunting. Well, something caught my eye in the culvert ditch....

And here is what it turned out to be..

He is 19" outside and I believe this to be the buck that I had on camera in 2005 that we nicknamed "Ol' Ripped Ear" because he had his ear ripped in half. He was a great 2.5 year old that had a ton of potential. I am not sure what happened to him, but if I had to guess, I would say that he was probablly hit by a car while crossing the road.
