RE: have you ever stolen a treestand?
took one that was on private land that i hunt and me and another guy are the only ones that are allowed to hunt it . The stand was there for four years without some one useing it. I knew because it had a stick thatfell and got caught in it . the tree was trying to grow around it so i took it down and moved it to a better spot on the property

Yep, any stand within 10yards or so from the property line comes down. No one will start any trouble with us and they never have, they just accept it.

I define stealing as taking something that does not belong to me.
I wouldn't do it! Period!!

Define stealing.
I don't think that taking down a stand and keeping it if it is on your property is stealing.
Now, going on public land, or trespassing and doing it is stealing.

Bottom line .... unless the law states that any stand on your property is yours, if you take someone elses stand with the intention of keeping it for yourself, you are a thief...... period

I hunt on public land where it is illegal to leave a stand up overnight...i have taken them down and left them at the base of their tree before...with a friendly note attached...There is one old stand that is grown into the tree that just happens to be in my favorite rifle hunting spot...no one has hunted it in years so this year i sat in it for a while....i dont know if that is considered stealing or not...

After reading all of the posts I do believe that people have a big problem with people who hunt their property illegally. (imagine that) But seriously. I just wanetd to know how many people have accully just been walking through the woods saw a treestand that diddnt belong to them on whoevers property and said. Hey i would like to have that.
Thats the only real reason for this post i didnt mean for it to get out of hand.
My apologies.
Ryan.
