NYer' s Youth Hunting Bills.
Two new Bills regarding youth bowhunting were introduced recently. One in the assembly and one in the Senate. The one in the Assembly is Bill A01099. It was sponsored by Assemblyman Richard Smith, and co-sponsored by Assembly members DelMonte, Magee, Tonko, and Towns. The one in the Senate is Bill S00930. It was sponsored by Senator George Maziars. Both Bills seek to lower the minimum big game bowhunting age from 14 to 12. We tried to ower it last year, but were defeated. Please contact your local Assembly member and you Senator. Let them know that you support the lowering of the hunting age. Take a kid hunting and you won' t have to hunt for your kid.

Charlie P, I rec' d word of this from NYB. I' ll certainly voice my opinion on paper. My oldest turns 12 this yr.. He' s been shooting some sort of bow since age 3. He' s certainly ready!!

My son was 12 last year. like yours he' s been shooting a bow since an early age (5). It makes no sense that he can' t hunt.

Yup, I hunt with Len and his 11 year old son, Sean. Sean shot his first deer with the bow this year. Of course the kid can outshoot a lot of grown men. I think he' s pulling 40 pounds. He' s not a big kid either. Don' t ever play the " Shoot the other guys nock" with him at 20 yards.:(
