Bow question for the experts

Ok we all know your bow works it's best when used at it's peak wieght but how much performance do you lose if say my new bow is a 70# and I want to shoot itat 65#???? Walt

RE: Bow question for the experts

I am by no means an expert but I asked this question to one of the staff shooters for gander mountain, his response was this: newer bows that have the limb pockets that give versus the older bows that had solid limb pockets(that dont move), this is not as big of a factor with these newer bows.....He could be full of it too!!!! However it made since to me, if the limb pocket will move with the limb......??????

Not enough to really worry about, especially in a hunting situation. I feel it is more important to be comfortable with the draw weight and well tuned than trying to squeeze out optimal performance and efficientcy.

Could be good or not so good. That's only one part of the equation, some of the other components may work better at 65 than 70. Test it and see.

Thanks guys kinda what I had hoped because they were trying to to talk me into a 60# when I ordered mine but I went with 70# which is what I shot now but was thinking about droping back to 65# with the extra speed I will be gaining with 101st.. Walt

Any bow will be at it's highest efficiency on the upper end of it's scale, but you'll have nothing to worry about. You'll be just fine.
