RE: Which call do you find the most effective?
You really don't have the one I find effective, and that's the doe bleat. I use that in conjunction with trail grunts and it works pretty well if the time is right. Calling is very circumstantial though with deer. Some come in like they're on a string and others turn inside out from the same call.

X-2 I have had the same exact experiences as Bry and use this method the most. |
RE: Which call do you find the most effective?
I think the most effective call is when you see a deer and scream at the top of your lungs at it, it effectivly clears the woods.
Really though, I've had good luck with a straight grunt, and also a the Can |
RE: Which call do you find the most effective?
I never really do any "blind calling", if and when I use a call it would be the "can" or a grunt call.

The can during the rut and lost fawn bleats during the archery season.

RE: Which call do you find the most effective?
I don't think you can beat the "can".
If I get no response I mix in a tending grunt. |

The Primos Can call and a Tending Grunt.

RE: Which call do you find the most effective?
I like just a simple grunt tube and maybe a can call.

RE: Which call do you find the most effective?
Anyone try the Buck Growl??? I couldn't get a deer to respond to the darn thing unless I used it for a simple tending grunt. I tried to mimic what the video showed that came with it to no luck. I read some years ago about Sam Collara using a similar concept to take a huge Iowa buck and have never been able to make a buck growl or agressive tending grunt work. Anyone else get any positive results?

RE: Which call do you find the most effective?
In Pa I use the Primos"Can" and the "True Talker" tube. In Alberta, I thinkrattling real antlers is hard to beat, but I use the can and tube as well.

RE: Which call do you find the most effective?
In MI I do not use a call;)

RE: Which call do you find the most effective?
Don't use a call much, but I should see if I can find another Carlton grunt call like the one I lost years ago. Its the only grunt call that was pretty effective for me. It always stopped mature bucks and sometimes brought them in. Nothing I've used since works consistently or worth a darn.
