Sound hunting strategies?

How many here use/rely more on sound hunting strategies than products?

Could you be more specific?

No wrong answer Jeff. Just curious as to how much faith we put in products over strategies. Example: Scent Killer (That is just an example)

Your brain is the best piece of equipment you can take into the woods.

Both I guess. Sound hunting strategies (and lady luck)are what get you close to the game you are hunting. Its what gets you within range of your quarry. Those sound strategies that get me close are what I take pride in. At that point is when we rely on our products to finish the job for us (bows, broadheads, scents, no scents, grunts, on and on).

Except for those of us who do all our killin' with fists, those guys dont need no stinkin' product.

I use alot of products like scent killer, calls, urine, etc. . .I'm bettin' most of us do. Do I rely on them?? No. I started out without most of them. . . and could do it again if I needed to.

Very good answer.

Bingo, I like simple when I go into the woods. Maybe I'm just a nostalgia fan, but I like keeping things as foolproof as possible as well. Which to me means less gadgets/products.

I personally put more faith and effort into my hunting strategies than into a product that someone else created

Most of my kills have been because I listen. Most of the time I hear them coming before I ever see them.

I do not take a lot of extras into the woods - most important thing to watch is the wind and I also like to hunt high- very very few products I believe in and the only one that I feel I need to take is deer dander by fitzgerald

I am a firm believer in sound hunting strategies- watching the wind, entry/exit routes, hunt high as possible considering foliage, don't use a lot of gimmicks

Woodsmanship kills more deer than any product or gadget ever will.

woodsmanship cannot be replaced by a tool if the name of the game is getting close.

I wouldn't like to hunt half as much as I do now if I relied so heavily on an inanimate object to kill a deer....I love to use my brain, hunting is very magical to me. If someone gave me an instrument that sees all the bucks in the woods every time I hunted, I wouldn't use it(ok maybe once :) )...but you get my point.

Strategy is the clear winner. All of the gadgets in the world won't help you kill a deer, unless you pay to have one put in front of you.

The only gadget that has helped me kill a deer isa grunt call. Brings bucks in sight but out of range, into range. I'd rather put myself in the right spot, than rely on a "gadget" to get a deer.
