shot a couple bows

Well,I couldn't stand it any longer, even though I am not "really" in the market for a new bow.I was shooting in a local shop on their indoor 3-d range and saw the demo model Katera and said to myself, what the heck.

Most of you know I am not a short bow low brace speed guy.BUT,I willsay I did like the draw cycle on this bow,I was surprised it didn't hurt my bad shoulder. The draw length was correct for me so I got a good feel for it.It was also set at my hunting weight. It was pretty much dead in the hand at the shot but I don't really pay that much attentionto that unless it just rattles your hand or something.

It was however, exactly what I expected from a short bow.A bow that you HAVE to hold upright and stable instead of one that wants to sit there without any work from the shooter.Even though it had a short brace,it didn't seem to be TOO touchy but it was a little more than I like.;)

The shop owner is starting to push the new PSE's so he handed me some extremly short bow I have no idea what it was but it was a hybrid and after 1 pull on 53#'s I handed it back to him and said no thanks.:DIt tweaked my shoulder worse than the Hoyt did on 58#s.Plus it felt like the top and bottom of the bow wanted to swap endsside to side from being so short and unstable.

Then I tried the Seven 37 Hoyt.SWEET is the only way to describe it,smooth draw, all the way through the draw cycle and it has an IBO of 313,not a speed demon but respectable.

What I loved was that when I got it back,it was sitting dead in my hand with NO effort on my part to keep it there.Balance was superb and it felt good on the shot as well.Just enough feedback to let me know what it was doing on the shot(not vibration)just what it should be doing. No side to side kick, just a solid shot.

For those that want a solid 3-d/hunting bow or a bow that is just a little more forgiving and easier to shoot than alot of the offerings today, take a look at this bow.

I would like to shoot the Katera XL to see if it is more stable than the shorty.I bet it would be a great hunting bow.

I got to shoot the Katera and the Katera XL during spring break, along with a bunch of other bows, and I prefered the XL over the regular Katera. You're guess is right on, I thought the XL was much more stable post shot and while holding steady at full draw as well, just more balanced overall to me.

I'm assuming the draw cycle is pretty much the same as well?

That Seven37 is probably....no, it IS, the finest bow I believe I've ever shot. It's just super, super sweet. Fast enough, forgiving....incredibly smooth and quiet.......In retrospect, I wish I would have gotten that one instead of the VectrixPlus......We'll see come November...;)

Maybe you could make the 37 a 3-d specific bow and keep the Vectrix for poking holes.;)

I drew an Ultra Elite a couple years ago but it wasn't setup to shootthat had a slightly better feel to me than the 37 but not exactly a hunting bow.

Yes it is :)

The best part about shooting those two bows is that they were both the shop owners bows. So he had them dialed in real nice. No group shooting with either of those two bows:D

In fact, I thought about doing exactly that. But, alas.......I can't justify spending the money and owning 2 bows.....Even the deal I get...[&o] I love the Vectrix....but it ain't no Seven37.......

Exactly why I liked the Trykon XL much better than the Trykon, and why I keep looking in the classified here there and the other place for a Vectrix XL used. I also like the Seven37 I shot as well, but I've not expected to see a used one of those show up anytime soon at a bargain price.
