Might have a place to turkey hunt...
 

My grandfather pastors a church about 2 hrs from me, The Church owns a soybean field and 4acre wooded lot behind it, he was telling me he see's turkeys there sometimes.... Would it be worth the trip to give it a try? Worth buying all the accessories neccessary to killing a turkey? I have no problem hunting on the Lord's land "literally" as it's all his anyway.Should Ijust jump right in, just for a chance at a Thunder Chicken...? This place would provide a better chance than the other place i spoke of earlier close to home. Bow only BTW.

What would you guys do?

Aaron - I am just getting back into it after 10 years and seems like 10 years everything changed- I am gathering the basics again

Take the trip see if you see evidence the birds are there - if not maybe seriously scout for a place for next year - if so purchase the basics and take the plunge

Yeh Frank, thats what i was thinking, Some Wally World decoys, and calls should do me good, but i dont really know about a blind setup.... But this plan might fall through a big hole.... Only time will tell though, right now i can still think about it.

?? I know nothing about turkey hunting... care to expound for me? But like i said, This is not a sure plan, it is for now, but could change in the next month or so, again, time will tell.... but i might as well gain all the info about these birds i can anyway. I went riding today on the parkway looking for some birds and seen one HUGE gobbler, walk in front of the truck and disapeared into the woods while i was fubbling with a camera, i think i deffinatley could get hooked, if given the right place and opportunity.
