early season hot weather, 1 hour, the deer don't move until it cools off. cooler weather, 4 hours morning and 4 night. rut usually all day.

A lot of times the wind dictates what stand I hunt. some of my stands are only good for the 1st 2 hours in the AM when the deer come thru to go bed down for the day. Some stands they come thru for hours to get to their bed area. My morning hunts are no shorter than 2 hours and usually around 5 hours! Evening sits are usually 4 hours. Sometimes I sit from late afternoon until close depending on the time of year!

2.5 as an average. If I can get there to stay 3.5 thats what I do but thats max time in the stand.

I'm terrible with morning hunts when I'm north at deer camp (2.5 hours)....we run for the peppermill...(its where we eat brecky)

Evening hunts - 4-5 hours..


When I hunt southern Michigan I spend my life in the stand....amazing what your see from 10AM - 1PM...My stelath cam helped me understand this....

November thru January Im on stand sunrise to sunset.On warmer days about 3 or 4 hours.I usually hunt public land so you never know when someone else will spook one my way.

Generally, I'll sit 4hrs per hunt. During the rut I hunt dark to dark.
