Got turkeys?

I put the camera out last time I was at camp with a bit of corn to take last minute inventory of the deer/turkeys down at camp before the 30 day bait rule came into effect. Dad finally pulled the card today and sent me the pics. I only included a handful of the turkey pics, and I took out the deer pics because there were about 700 in total, but here are the best turkey pics for you to enjoy. For Rob, this is the plot above the Nanny Whacker. ;)

Can you say thwack? This is the plot I just reseeded in clover/chicory that should be 6" or so by the turkey opener. I'll have a blind right here, it's one of their favorite strutting zones. Less than a month............[8D].

Heh, I hear you. But I've got a pretty good track record at this place. (knocks on wood)

I've never gone 3 days without killing a bird or calling one in for someone else here. I don't know if it will be at my place (I hope to be part of it), but I'm betting this is Matt's year. If he can't get one between me, Rob, and his buddy up in NY he's hopeless.......lol.

Matt (RJ), amazing pictures and funny you let me know where, for some reason when I looked at the first picture, I knew exactly where it was. Then the second picture WOW, in your face Toms! Fantastic.

Matt / PA, breath, breath, calm, breath.... [8D] They are gobblin here. My neighbor said he stepped out back his shop to take a pizz and a gobbler not 50 yards or so in a tree scared it right out of him.

Jeff, 3 weeks, I keep telling myself, 3 weeks.!

4 weeks to PA's so I'll get a great southern preview and Heninator...LOL Don't forget to mention that huge strutter at 18 yards!

Rob:

My dad watched a gobbler with 2 hens in the plot in front of my camp yesterday. Dad was in the barn doing chores and the gobbler let him know he was there with over a dozen gobbles. They are apparently feeling it now. I'm so antsy that I think Lisa's going to start making me sleep on the couch soon. [8D] Every morning I'm practicing my calling in the car, and taking the long way to work to look for birds locally around here. It's going to be a good year I can tell.

A few more for you guys to look at. The pics have been slow as my plots on the other end of the property are producing well and this one hasn't seemed to take off yet. They are apparently in the other plots nearly every day, and haven't been here much since my corn pile was gone several weeks ago.

Drooling,

I filmed 3 hens dusting today with one longbeard hanging close in and out of strut. I'm having trouble uploading it to Photobucket. I'll try tomorrow.

Nice Birds Matt, looking forward to getting together to film you drop one. Did you get a second tag, mine came yesterday.

Nice pics Matt. I'm starting to catch a bad case of Spring Fever. Called in a couple birds now - and I've been leaving for work 1/2 hr early so I can ride around and look in the local fields...

RE: Got turkeys?

Rob:

I got lazy this year and didn't end up applying for a second tag. I kinda wish I would have applied for another, but honestly it's going to be tough to fill more than one in PA this year anyhow. I had an extra one last year, but also had a full week of vacation to burn that week between jobs (I timed that perfect ;)). Between calling for my Dad, Dan,andMatt.......I think one tag will be enough in PA for me. I still have 2 for NY as well, and will be spending every Sunday at Dan's camp, and also I plan to scout the new property (675 acres) next weekend as well.........that's only a 1/2 hour drive for me. I bet I end up with at least 2 this year between NY and PA.

Oh yeah.........I hated the tactical stock on the 535 when it finally came in, it just wasn't comfortable and pointed terrible for me. I ended up getting a camo (MOO)870 SuperMag SPS Turkey with the new Shur Shot pistol grip stock. It's putting 35+ pellets in a 5" circle at 40 yards with a TruGlo .665 Gobble Stopper and 3.5" #6 Winchester HD's........;). I may splurge before season and buy a Rhino choke and some Nitro's for it too.
