If you were strictly to get a target bow..

Primarily Spots and Paper.

And lets just say Bowtech wasn't an option (just because I wantto hear more than Bowtech Bowtech) What would you consider seriously?

Brand and Model

Ex Hoyt Pro Elite.

I like the ProElite quite well...I would probably look at an even larger ATA on a pure target bow though. the Vantage X8 looks very nice as well (hoyt guys, mobow...why don't I hear more mention of this bow? On paper it looks like a great bow, but all I ever hear about are people shooting the ProElite and UltraElite)?

I would also consider a CR337 (actually I would have bought Matt's if I was out for a target specific bow).

Taking all things into consideration. I believe you said you have a 27.5" draw?

I would take a look at the following:

Hoyt ProTec (Probably the BEST bow Hoyt ever made)
Hoyt Vantage X7 or X8 (These bows are awesome and a lot quicker than the advertised IBO, a lot of people at the shop have been pleased)
Hoyt Seven37 (I can't believe this bow hasn't taken off more than it has, it's a true sweet shooter, and I almost got one for 3d, but then this PSE stuff came up, this is a GREAT option)
PSE MoneyMaker X LF ( some people may think they are ugly but boy do they shoot, and I hear the Anodized Grey looks pretty sweet ;))

here's a picture of the Shark X, similar design, except for the MM LF is a hybrid cam, just a tick faster.

I'm not sure where the Matt's and TFOX stand on this, but I believe and most will tell you that a single cam will generally be easier to set up and shoot. You will, however get more speed out of a hybrid set up.

I have never shot one, but I have always like the Hoyt Montega's stats. 44 1/4" ATA and a 9 1/4" BH, sounds like one hell of an indoor bow to me.

You know, I almost mentioned this bow as well. It's super, super smooth (cause it has round wheels) is super forgiving......I think it may very well be the ulitimate paper puncher..

Why haven't I mentioned the Vantage? Cause I know absolutely NOTHING about it. ;)

The Seven37 would also be a super fantastic shooter. In fact, they are. I'll be getting one next year if it's still offered.

Great info Guys and Matt/Tn thanks I'll look into a few of those that I haven't heard of.

Yes, speed is of zero concern heck these guys shooting 600's, I think we can shoot at the same time and I have another arrow nocked before there's makes the familiarsoft phhfft of yet another X :D

Or Apex or whatever it is.........they're getting good speeds out of a dang nice bow (speeds for the #-age).

Probably a bunch of 'em out there that are awesome. I see a bunch of hoyts at shoots, too.

For me it would be either be a Merlin or a Darton Executive Vegas. If neither of those were available it would be a hoyt. Martin has some nice target bows as well.

Any 38" OR MOREa-a bow with/around 8" brace or better for spots(Hoyt has some good choices that have already been mentioned)and I don't feel that 1 cam bows are easier to setup or keep in tune than a hybrid.I actually feel 1 cam bows are harder to get the rotation tuned properly.

I believe a deflex riser is a better choice as well, don't just look at the brace.IMO,you could get a bow with an 8" brace but has a 2 1/2" reflex and that would'nt be as good a choice as a a 7 1/2" brace bow with a straight riser.

I personally don't like hybrid cams that much. Just as complicated and critical of timing as a twin cam, but no second yoke to dial out lean. I just don't see the point and would rather have a true dually or single cam.

In order of my personal preference........

Mathews Apex (I happen to have one for sale at a good deal right now too [8D])
Martin Scepter 4
Darton Pro 5000
Hoyt Pro Elite or older Pro Tec, or Pro 38
PSE Moneymaker

Hoyt ProTec (Probably the BEST bow Hoyt ever made)

That's what I've been using for about 3 years - XT 3000 limbs, 50 lb. If they're so darn good, how come all my shots don't hit the bullseye?

Actually, I'm really partial to it. It seems to fit me great and just feels so much more comfortable than anything else I've tried. Probably one of the ones to be considered, although it seems to me that model is discontinued. Anyone know for sure?

RE: If you were strictly to get a target bow..

Not much I can add to whats been said Bob, something over 40" ATA, Deflex riser and over 8" of brace height. Myself, (now that I am shooting spots again) I have an old riser I have drawn up some improvements on, and soon as I can find me someone (that's not going to rape me) that can slice me up a new one to my specifications, I'll then send it to Barnsdale and have him finish it off.
