Video of Big 8.
 

I'm starting to get this video thing figured out. I hope you guys are ready, I have probably 10 years of video footage...LOL

We'll start with this one.

This was a big 8 I had come out in the field from a bedding area to the right. I was out there in my treestand weaponless as it was the first day of rifle and I was tagged out. To my left in a shed/ground blind was the land owner. I try to take him out every year. He didn't see this buck from his ground spot so I got him to get out and stalk him. He threw his rifle up twice on it but never fired. When he came back I asked him if he saw it and he said yes but the shot wasn't clear and I shook his hand saying most would have slung lead. It would have been his best buck.

Hope this works, what do you think of him, and another what would he score?

FYI, I'm sitting in my honey hole stand. I never saw this buck in archery season. (two seasons ago).

He's 20" wide, good mass, not super long tines though?..........I bet he's mid 130's anyway?

You gonna post the big "Hollow Buck" for everyone to see?
I want another look at that one. The scores should be interesting to hear.

Heh......there aren't any big deer in PA. That footage must be from Illinois or Iowa.

Very nice buck. As far as score, he has got the spread but he doesn't appear to have really long tines. Judging for what I can see on the video, I would guess him in the 118"-122" range. Great buck, very odd to see a mature buck feeding in a field during daylight here in PA on the first day of rifle season.

Matt as soon as I figure out how to retrieve that one off that camera and onto my puter I will. I was able to take this one off my new miniDV Canon GL2. I'm not sure how to get them off my Sony.....I think I need a software thing. I'm still trying and as soon as I do, I'll post it, along with tons more...LOL He's ( the hollow 8 point) a world class 8 point.

Nice buck Rob!! I'd say mid 130's but it wouldn't suprise me if he hit 140". Great looking buck!

Here's a picture of my buddy Russ' 2007 8pt. I think he's got similar mass and tine length to Rob's deer but this one only has about a 15" inside spread?

It was officially P&Y scored at 128 5/8" gross, 125 3/8" net.

Add in another 5" for width and I think it's easy to see that Rob's could do 132-135"?

Not this year buddy, I'll be in IL that week. Greg and I are going to try it a little earlier this year due to pressure the week we've been trying.

That does mean I'll be here the following week for Nov in PA for a change, if you need a cameraman or shooter. :)
Provided the longbow doesn't speak early this year.

Yea I think some people are under estimating Robs buck,that is a great buck.
As for that deer in your picture,was it sick or something? Because that shot is way to far forward to hit any major organs.;)

That was the Finger Lakes region of NY.......and I just might do that if Rob doesn't love me anymore. ;)

LOL Ever so slightly quartered and trust me that shot was spot on PERFECT. tucked right in that angle behind the leg, below the shoulder. (would be just as devastating on a broadside animal too)
Oh and that is a Slick Trick 1 1/8" Mag deer.
They all work when they are placed that well. I wouldn't want Russ shooting at me. [:-]

Chewy knows he's welcome too........I've got about 5 different solid funnels to hunt on the property. I don't really rifle hunt anymore so that's the last week I'mthere, I don't mind hunting them pretty hard at that point. I've got enough room, you guys will see when you come up for birds this spring.

That's a great buck Rob. I guess I'll have to agree with the others on the score since I really couldn't venture a great guess from what I saw, but he is a dandy that's for sure.

Do you have a tripod for your GL2 yet?

Greg, LOL, I got a positive response tho, notice his ears back listening, Had I been bowhunting I would have turned it on for him and bet I'd turn him. Since my landowner was going to try to stalk him I didn't want to keep at him. Besides, I wasn't actually hunting.

Cool vid Rob!! Thats a heck of a buck. Good too see you have some slobs running around up there. PA is on the way up the totem pole for big bucks now fo sho. I saw a post on another web site for a new PA record non typical buck, think it was gun though.
