Whats your fletching?

I am looking into getting new arrows for the season and am wondering what fletching to put on them. They will be used primarily for hunting and have always just used the 4" vanes. What is the major benefit of puting on blazers or a quick spin fletching. I know that quick spin is suppose to make arrow fly staighter, but if you bow is tuned properly and your arrow is straight, are they necessary or do they benefit. How about benefits from the blazers?

I'm going to shoot feathers. For the distances I shoot.....they're known to stabilize a BH quicker than vanes. And....let's face it.....for turkeys I hunt out of a blind.....and the times I hunt in the rain are rare. So.....feathers getting wet wren't that big of an issue for me.

I may fletch a couple with vanes for use in the rain......and the again....I might not.

White vanes with cockvane being black.

I shoot 4" vanes with wicked left helical. They work well for me, going to go to a 3" on my FMJs though, tough to get the 4" to stay on with lots of helical on that super thin diameter. I used to shoot Blazers and had good luck with them, they stiffer so less flex when shot, thereby stabilizing faster. The Quickspins do get the arrow spinning fast, but I guess the difference in my experience is minimal when compared to a standard vane. Plenty of choices now that's for sure!

For hunting and practice 3-5" Parabolic(just because they are the quietest IMO) RW Feathers.

For Aerial, 6-4", or 4-4" uncut RW Feathers.

Benefit? A couple come to mind. 1 is weight. Blazers weigh a little less, helping speed and FOC. All be it minimal.

Second. Vane clearance. Sometimes it's difficult to get good vane clearance w/ a long vane.

Third. If you're using a whisker biscuit, they're the bomb. They are much more rigid than a standard vane and stand up to the abuse much better.

I use 4" vanes on my 3D arrows, and will have 4" feathers on my hunting arras.

Where might that be?[8D]

I use Razr feathers or 3" Parabolics depending on my arrow.

I use the 2" Blazers almost exclusively. Quiet. Better FOC. Great broadhead stabilization with a hard helical offset. Very good in the wind.

This is my fletching...

After a decade and a half of using Tru Flight Feathers, I've actually found some that I like as good or better... and the price definitely pushes it towards the "or better" category.I spent 30 minutes last night inspecting their bases and looking them over with all but a microscope, and I think they compare apples to apples in quality... More to come later. :)

RE: Whats your fletching?

I shoot Axis arrows at around 295 fps. I use blazers now as well. They are lighter so my arrows are faster. They provide less drag so that my arrows maintain their speed better down range. The high profile of the blazer provides adequate stabilization for my setup. I shoot mechanical broadheads (Wasp jak-hammer, GR razor tip) because I believe they are more forgiving in windy conditions. Therefore, I don't need as much rear stabilization as a fixed head that might plane in the wind.

I haven't read any replys yet, I perfer Nap quick spins for me, like other fletchings they have their positives and negatives. IMO their isn't a right and wrong answer concerning this, it just depends upon what you prefer, based on your arrows and points/broadheads.
