Something simple, but I need advice

Admittedly I am doing something wrong at times when hooking my rope or belt to the tree, the one that attaches the safety harness to the tree. It seems the problem I have experienced is when turning to shoot to my right, many times I can't shoot because the belt becomes too tight and doesn't allow me to get into shooting position. Is it the harness, the belt or rope, or am I attaching the belt/rope too high or too low? It seems simple, just don't have the hang of it and last year it could have cost me a potential shot at a nice buck if I wanted to take it. Something I am doing wrong.

By the way, I was using a Gorilla safety harness most of last season.

Coug, I'm not familiar with Gorilla's specifically, but I'd assume it hooks up the way all my Seat O' The Pants harnesses do...

I found that if I hook up so that the attaching rope is high enough on the tree so that it's just barely taut -- or about to go taut -- when I'm sitting, I can still comfortably move around while sitting down, but it gives me the most flexibility in turning from side to side in a standing position and keeps that hookup rope out of the way the best.

And I've tried EVERY way to hook up to a tree I can think of. ;)

Greg is right that is the best way i have found as well! Keeps your tether out of the way and if you would fall you should be able to grab the platform so you aren't just dangling there!

Maybe I just need to use a longer belt or rope(I prefer the kind Lone Wolf uses, same as Summit maybe?). Guess I need to practice more.....only used a full body safety harness the last season........always used a half-***** harness in past seasons[&:]. Thanks Greg and popeandyoungchaser.

Thats exactly what i do to, it works for me to. I also found that replacing the strap teather that came with my HSS with the summit prussic knot teather gave me some added adjustability.

Greg, let me know if you need a Summit rope... I've got a few extra hanging in my shop.

Prussics rope is the only way to go... and still you have to watch how it's hooked, the height and all that or it gets in the way of you elbow when drawing sometimes. I always hook up, sit, move, stand, draw in all directions to make sure I'm free.
