Default rage broadheads

I have never shot any mechanical broadheads, but was considering rage 2 blade for elk hunting this fall just because of the damage I have seen them do on videos. Your thoughts?

If your setup will push it.......I don't think there's a more devastating BH out there. If your setup won't......I'd go with a more traditional COC head.

At 300+fps and 80+#'s of KE.......I don't worry about whether mine will or won't. I KNOW I have the most trauma inflicting BH on the tip of my arrow that is made......bar none.

I shoot the Rage.

Good luck.

For large boned critters like an elk, I'd stay away from the rage. If it were me I'd look seriously at the Hatchet broadhead.

I have only seen them used on one occassion and it was not a good outcome. Perfect shot placement for a double lung taken at 40 yards (the person was ground hunting) on a large whitetail only got one lung, not enough penetration. The deer was not found. Theperson was using a brand new Bowtech and carbon arrows (not sure which one's). Sad part was that he had fixed blades in his quiver also. I asked him why he didn't use the fixed blade for such a long shot and his reply was that he thought he had enough KE to get the job done, and everyone told him so.

The Hatchet Broadhead would have killed him even with only one lung hit.

It's deadly I tell ya. this is the single blade model. I prefer the double blade model. Fess up, who's been googling Hatchet Broadheads for 5 minutes.
