They are GOBBLIN

I went out to my property in Jersey County, ILearly this morning. The turkeys started gobblin a little after 6:30. They were gobblin in a snow storm for a while. They really hammered it while still on the roost, gobbling at crows, owls and dogs barking. A few let loose on the ground after fly down but didn't last long once they were on the ground. I heard the last one about 7:45.

But man am I fired up and ready to go now.

Yeah, I am in KS, and the birds have been gobbling all winter. But we didn't get any snow, and our season starts in 9 days!!!!;):)

I just got back from AL and I am beat. Those turkey have a 6th, no a 10th sense, and their pea brain is smarter than mine. 1200 acres of big woods pine plantation ridges with no fields anywhere is a completely different game. Got one last year but this trip they were NOT call responsive and werent gobbling much.

Still had a great trip and learned/hiked more in three days than i will the entire season here in KY. Got within 80 yards two mornings, just couldn't seal the deal.

TN is next this Friday, gotta get the gear reorganized and rested up, i am beat.

YUP, they've been gobbling near the house here every morning for a week or more, and we still have snow cover of about a foot. Go figure. We do have a lot of bare spots on south facing hills in teh open and along roads now. Maybe they'll be all done with the hens by the time May 1st rolls around.[8D] I saw 3 gobblers all blown up and strutting near a bunch of hens a month ago in 3 feet of snow. Go figure.
