I'm a sinew wrapped flint head guy and a mechanical carbon guy....My experience has been make hole in lungs with sticks and stones or 20 dollar mechanicals and the deer dies...

What do you guys think?

Well, it's quite basic really. Back when I took my EMT exam, the first thing we were taught is the ABC's. Airway, Breathing, Circulation. Take any 1 of those 3 away, and the pearly gates are comin awfully quick. ;)

Haha thats right. Although I prefer fixed heads over mechanicals, both will do the job when you hit the right spot.

heck you put any of them through both lungs it is over. i don't care which head it is even a field point in both will kill it .a little slower but it will be dead

No it has to be a rage head 123 gr with 25% foc at 310 fps at a 90 degree angle with the wind blowing north at15 mph on a friday,or they just get up walk away and heal instantly.

I would have to agree it is for sure rage. I know somone that hunts my propery and he made a bad gut shot and the deer fell within 30 yards. It was also a ten point that weight in at 198 pounds. So that has convinced me.

Shot placement and sharp blades....for me 125 gr. Thunderheads I have at least three dozen, so not ready to change. They have never failed me. I like an entrance and exit wound for good blood trails.

However there are a lot of goods blade out there, but ones has to put them in the right brown spot....

ive been throwin darts lately im thinkin if i get them real real sharp tip an throw it real hard in the right spot the heck with them 700 dollar bows,,,,,,,lol........ are you guys kiddin me the only broadhead that is gonna a kill a deer if my muzzy 100 grain 3 blade thats the only broadhead people should use.. HA!........... i agree. stick an stones or your 20 dollar arrow will work jus the same in the same spot.......

Whoo Hoo, I one of only to two who answered something other than putting hole in them. I'm still trying to kill one with a spitwad, hopefully next year.

Maybe a better thread topic would be "which broadheads will kill a deer on a horrible shotbecause I don't practice enough and I fling arrows around the woods like cigarette butts at a Phillip Morris convention";)

If you put a field tip through the right spot the deer will die. *Not a good idea*. The native americans had far less superior arrow/head combinations that did the trick. If you put any of todays broadheads through the lungs of a deer, it will die. Its all about shot placement.

The only broadheads that kill animals are ones put in the right spot.

Hopefully they are Sharp!

My Brother in Law shot a Doe one year with some off brand cheap looking mechanical. I mean this thing was small even if ithad ofopened. Any way, he shot her through both lungs and watched her for 20 to 30 minutes before trying to do a sneak and finish her off with a Muzzy he had in his quiver. The 1st broadhead did not open, so in all practicality was a field point. I am sure it would have eventually killed her, but it was obviously going to be a slow death.
