RE: Cabelas = No more Hoyt
You will find that most high end or "better equipment" will not be available from catalog companies and only Pro Shops. I would sujest that you buy your equipment from a pro shop unless you have no other choice. I cant tell you the number of times I have had guys come in to the shop I used to work in with the wrong or miss matched equipment bought from a catalog because they thought they were saving money. Your actually denying yourself professional help getting set up on your new bow (unless you are an expert). The $25 you save may actually cost you $100 by the time you take the bow someplace to help you set it up and repurchase the proper equipment and pay for the professional help that would of been free with the bow you purchaced there. Good luck

RE: Cabelas = No more Hoyt
I am confused. Your title stated "Cabelas= No more Hoyt". That would imply that Cabelas did sell Hoyt at one point. Did they? Not in their mail order catalogs....
....but maybe in their retail stores? I honestly don't know. |
RE: Cabelas = No more Hoyt

RE: Cabelas = No more Hoyt
Hey dusty9,
I think PABowhntr was asking what a lot of us are thinking. Did Cabelas ever sell Hoyt products in their stores? Not all of us have a Cabelas store to go to so we don't know that answer. They do not carry them in their catalogs and never have. PS Ticking off the moderators in your 12th post to this board is probably not a good start to your posting career. --- Live - Urbana, IL Hunt - Knox Co., IL ![]() ![]() |
RE: Cabelas = No more Hoyt
Cabelas sold Hoyt through their retail stores, no mail order. Whether this has changed or not I don't know, I do know they they're (were)listed as a dealer on Hoyts web site.

Dusty,
I not only couldn't understand your first post, I couldn't figure out your second one. Spelling and grammer have little to do with typing. You can backspace and correct any mistakes before posting, however, communication skills are another story. I don't understand slamming PaBOWhntr for asking a legitimate question. |
RE: Cabelas = No more Hoyt
Dusty9, a little testy are we or do you just dislike authority figures in general. These boards are the best on the web today thanks to moderators like PABowhntr and disrespecting him for simply trying to understand your question with a question won't get you many friends here as a newbie. He simply was asking for his own behalf and if you would be polite and answer his simple question perhaps you could be the teacher rather than a..well lets just leave it at that.

RE: Cabelas = No more Hoyt
I was just at Cabelas yesterday in Dundee, MI and they didn't have any Hoyt bows. i was alittle disappointed cause i was told that they did but oh well i'm sure some one around here sells them

RE: Cabelas = No more Hoyt
I got my hoyt at the Owatonna MN store this fall. I was just up there a couple weeks ago and they still had them on their shelf.

RE: Cabelas = No more Hoyt
Dusty, I explained why I moved your post. It wasn't deleted, just moved to the post that you started in the first place. No reason to take it out on PABowhntr. Relax.

RE: Cabelas = No more Hoyt
Last I knew Hoyt wouldn't sell through places like Cabelas or Gander Mountain, that is why Reflex was added to their line, basically a cheaper Hoyt but one that would be sold through these distributors. Years ago some companies bought quantities of Hoyt's and then offered them through their catalogs. Hoyt then said they wouldn't honor warrenties on any bows bought anywhere other then a pro shop. Is this what the original ? was about?

RE: Cabelas = No more Hoyt
Gander Mountain in Muncy, PA sells Hoyt bows. Though I wonder how many they actually sell. They have them for sale for suggested retail prices, not $1.00 less! Lucky for me there is a really nice pro-shop that is a Hoyt dealer 1 1/2 miles from Gander Mountain who has much better service and prices.

RE: Cabelas = No more Hoyt
There is a Gander Mountain in Crown Point Indiana (30- miles or so southeast of Chicago) that I had a chance to visit will up seeing family last summer. They stocked Hoyt, it was the first time I actually saw them in person. You could pick bows up there but they had nylon lock straps on them to prevent people from drawing them. I think they had some models set up for demo too but I didn't take the time to shoot one.
I brought the change in Hoyts warranty to the attention of the guy running the shop here and now they are stocking a couple of different models. Before, he said they didn't keep Hoyts on the rack because he wasn't satisfied with the warranty they offered. I finally got to shoot one of them babys a couple of weeks ago. It was a Magna Tech ZR200 VersaCam. I'd say there isn't much doubt Hoyt makes a good piece of equipment, and that's just from a first impression of about 20 arrows. Dusty9, welcome to possibly the best forum on the face of the planet. Just some friendly advice if I may. Try to be a little more polite, maybe reread your post and consider how your coming across if you don't mind me saying so. You won't find any bigger of a Hoyt fanatic then the honorable PABowhntr or anyone anymore helpful. Enjoy archery and the outdoors and have fun Dusty. I didn't pay attention to prices but I just read Tribal's. The shop I'm familiar with usually blows retail price on bows out of the water. They've had a customer come there from about 250 or 300 miles to the north who shopped around for his best price. Edited by - chiefheadhunter on 01/22/2002 08:56:40 |
RE: Cabelas = No more Hoyt
Geez, what did I miss?
I was honestly and sincerely asking if Cabelas sold Hoyt bows in their retail stores. I knew they didn't sell them through their mail order catalogs I wonder what was stated.....? Come on Rob, Tribal...fess up! ...I love the abuse... |
RE: Cabelas = No more Hoyt
The Gander Mountain in Peoria, IL also sells Hoyt. Their prices for the bare bow are comparable to the local shops I checked out, but by the time you add up all the setup fees that charge, you're better off at the pro shop.
