Would you consider it overkill?

Any part of your bowhunting rig (from release to the other end of the arrow) that you would consider overkill? If so, why?

I'd probably have to say my rest, the MZE. Seems a little over kill to me. Funny thing though, I'm switching to the Limbdriver.:D

I can not think of anything that would be overkill.

Do you ever shoot on a hill? I never used my level much until I shot on a side sloping hill...couldn't figure out why I was low and left....my buddy asked if i was watching my level...I did and well you guessed it....dead on.

Nothin on my rig is overkill.

Wouldn't overkill be MUCH better than underkill?

My point is, it shouldn't be considered OVERKILL if it is helping to down game more quickly. Sure you could cleanly down game with less, but everything extra has to help...not hurt.

I kind of have the feeling you are relating this to the Rage thread....

To answer your question though, sure I could kill deer with less, but I'm using what I'm using because I think it gives me more of an advantage and I'm comfortable with it.

Overkill as far as lethality...no.

Overkill as far as technical gadgets that increase accuracy, reduce noise, increase speed, etc.....maybe.

In no way related. Sorry if it seemed that way.

This is more what I was referring to.

Nothing on my bows that I would consider overkill...espicially my right handed bow.

I don't really need five pins with 20 feet of wrapped fiber.

I don't really need the lightest weight peep available on the market.

I don't really need a fall away rest.

I don't really need an STS.

I suppose I could get rid of quite a bit and still kill animals just as effectively.

RE: Would you consider it overkill?

heck, id say most of our whole rigs are over kill...the past proves we dont need what we have to hunt....

but based on a "typical" bow hunting rig, id say my viper sights are probably overkill....010 pins and an extention just isnt really needed for a 20yd shot on a deer IMO...but, i love my sights!

RE: Would you consider it overkill?

Let's see. I don't use sights. I shoot fingers and use a simple flipper rest, although arthritis flare-ups are making me lean toward hunting with a release now. Sometimes I've got a stabilizer on the bow. My arrows run about 560 grains with 5" feathers and wear cut on contact 2-blade broadheads. Even when I'm using my compound, I'm still shooting traditional. ;)So, nope. No overkill. :)

The only thing about my setup that is overkill is the guy behind the arrow. I mean seriously, it's just not fair.;)

RE: Would you consider it overkill?

I am sure there are things on my Bow that are actually overkill, but none I would part with. $200 sight for one thing. 1st sight I ever played with was a painted toothpick taped on my bow.

Kids will do what they have to;)Killed my 1st rabbit with that Bow too.:D
