I don't think it really matters. Just pick "right".

I shoot straight, right and left helical and can tell little differnce. I would actually lean a little toward left hand helical for some reason ( shooting a longbow )

It's easier for me to get left wing feathers, so I shoot left helical. But then I shoot a big 2 blade broadhead. If you're going to go with a mech head, I'd suggest a straight offset. The mech head wont need stabilization like a big 2 blade fixed head and helical will also slow the arrow some compared to the straight offset. All you have to keep in mind is, that no matter which helical or offset you decide to go with, you will need to use the proper wing feather. For instance, if you want to fletch left, you will need to use a left wing feather and vice versa for right. You will also need to decide which size feather to use. I like the 5" shield cut. The parabolic is quieter. As for the fletcher, Bitzenburger and BPE are both good. The BPE is more adjustible than the Bitz and is a lot less money, but both will do the job very well.

The direction of helical realy doen't matter, just make sure all your arrows are te same. I use right helical. The finest fletching Jig you can buy is a bitzenburger! Buy one now and never have to buy another.

I use stright offset myself and have always been told to turn the fletch into the bow, I don't think it really matters. I started out with stright offset for clearence of the rest and never saw reason to change. I now use the muzzy zero effect and could change if i wanted as there is no clearence problem with that rest. I also have had a JoJan multi fletcher for the better part of 20 years, works fine for me.
