I'm betting that he had a thumb trigger release. They are notorious for firing on let down. After setting up on my brown bear I took a test draw to make sure I was clear of surrounding brush. As I was letting down I shanked a shot out into the beach in front of me... luckily the bear didn't see or hear it. Point is; "stuff" happens. The range should have been designed to account for this kind of "stuff" and it obviously wasn't. Unfortunately we're all going to pay the price of higher range premiums, not just this range owner. Thankfully it didn't turn out worse.
