How is the distributor getting raked over the coals? I'm betting if he didn't like the practice the company employed....he could opt not to sell the goods provided. Why isn't he doing that?

RE: Bowtech questions
BM - I have no allegiance to HCA, just like I have none to Bowtech (or Hoyt or Mathewsor Ross or anyone else) I'll tell you right now: HCA's customer service sucks, their arrows are dreadfully overpriced and they're not very good at returning phone calls. Oh, they have no 800-number either. And I did lodge a complaint with the owner about that too. Their website looks like a kindergartener made it.
Bold proclaimations such as these are what makes the King the King. The King is not afraid to call a spade a spade. It's why he commands the respect of his peers.
Back on topic:there isn't a halfway-educated consumer in the free world paying full MSRP on the HCAbows. Their Average Joe program is open to everyone, no questions-asked - it's no secret. $520 (I think that's still the price). And I know that program has been enormously successful - so most of the Iron Maces you see floating around - that's where they came from.
I don't have to know the overhead on their arrows to know that they're not worth $10 a piece. I don't care if they're blessed by the Holy Savior himself - I ain't paying $10 for an arrow.
Kudos to everyone who enjoys overpaying for their gear. I know I don't.
This reminds me of a thread that someone (buttonbuckmaster, I think) started a while back - regarding gear that you "go cheap" on. Halfway through the thread, it turned into some kind of bizarro-world boasting match about who pays the most for the most useless things. Almost as if it was a good thing to blow the maximum amount of money on everything possible. LOL "I only buy the BEST" blah blah blah.
Well Lah Tee Dah. Here's your sign.

Put it this way: How does it make you feel when you see on the news that Exxon-Mobil recorded RECORD PROFITS in 2007?

RE: Bowtech questions
Im gonna jump in and give my very UNeducated in marketing, simple, easy to understandopinion::
So what if we are getting burned and making the rich, richer? If we have the money and we chose to spend it on a 700+ bow, who's fault is that? I dont, so i bought used, shoots just as good as brand new. Just sayin, its not that hard to comprehend, If they go TOO high, people WONT be able to buy, but as far as i can see, they arent pushing any price limits yet.

You're missing the point. The disclosure of information is a means to an end. It is a way to see if a company is raking its distributors, and customers over the coals, or if they are making an honest buck.
You have no dog in this fight, so why are you so fired up that he picked Bowtech to start making his point with? Unless you just realized you overpaid for your bow and now aren't happy about it.
And Fran....when you're comapring those two bows......note that you probably don't have a damned clue.....like a LOT of other HCA owners.....what kind of "Custom" string is on your bow. What's up with that?????
And I am SO glad you mentioned Exxon. "Record Windfall PRofits"? Did they mention whether that was before or after expenditures? How much tax they pay the government? How much they needed to put back to pay ridiculous fines and settle ridiculous lawsuits? Percentage-wise......they made less profit than your local grocer, probably. Your Exxon argument tells me one thing, though.......when Novemeber rolls around....I have no troubles guessing which lever you pull in the voting booth.....lol.

RE: Bowtech questions
Ironically, the pro shop that I worked at did just that with BowTech. Carolina Rod and Gun in Charleston, SC. Margins were so slim that we couldn't turn a dime without charging dang near full MSRP or even slightly over that. I told my boss then that without pumping some serious money into the archery side of things and picking up some more bowlines (we sold PSE, Browning and BowTech) that it would just be a hole in the boat. He agreed and got out of the archery business all together. Haven't checked back with my old boss in a few years, but I am sure that business is just as great as it was when I worked there. For a small gun shop to stay in business that long, you have to be pretty savvy, and he is just that..... not a guy who just fell off the turnip cart you know. Is Bowtech any worse off without them.... no I'm sure they aren't.... and I suspect that they don't really care either (I know for a fact they didn't because I was in the room on speaker phone discussing the whole situation with our account rep). It is what it is.
And I've been in that place many times. I lived in Mount P. for several years. Nice old-school gun shop.....but I wouldn't have bought an arrow in that place, either.
I HCA High Country jeff? Not sure what the A is for.
What the heck you up so late or early for?
What the heck you up so late or early for?
Now THAT is something that would have me pissed. I'd mow my own back yard before I complained about my neghbor's yard being an eyesore.(And I wouldn't try to ridicule him for buying a John Deere. At least he knows his engine ACTUALLY came from Kohler)
What the heck you up so late or early for?

How much does the average lawyer make an hour?
I see this is none of my business due to the lack of response.
Neither is it your's about Bowtech or any other manufacturers. You can see the writing on the wall already. Someones preparing themselves for their future in law. Where greedy lawyers steal from the "Rich" corporations and claim they do it for the consumers. BS, your doing it for your wallet.
