Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
I keep going through kisser b/c they break into peices with every shot. I had one that worked for about 6 months and then fianaly gave out. It was soft and I got it from Walmart!! Made by Allen Archery Products. The others I used were too hard and cracked. I just had to take serving and wrap it into a ball on my string to make a kisser, this doesn.t work me, as I am trying to find my anchor and can't. I have found a place that has the kisser that I need the Allen brand, Walmart cleared their archery stuff for the year!!! So anyway, Im paying like 13$ for 2 kissers that cost 1.88$!!! 9$ for shipping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I gotta have it tho!!

RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
This isn't meant to sound like a Smart ass reply but why on earth is anyone still using a kisser button?
Seriously? If you have your peep set up correctly use the string on the same place on your nose and anchor consistent you already have 3 solid reference points, the 4th (a kisser button) is just something to get in the way, cause a distraction in your shot sequence and slow your bow down. either you can see through your peep squarely or yuo can't, a kisser button does nothing to help that process. A kisser button goes back to the days where guys shot compounds without a peep sight entirely and they needed that 3rd reference point to make sure the're head and eye were properly aligned with the string. If a kisser button was of any help whatsoever accuracy wise you would see tournament archers using them..........I have never see a single one. Time to take off the training wheels ;):DTry it without for a little while, I think you will see that you don't need it at all. Just remember to do the other things the same each time and your form will become second nature. Anchor in the same spot, touch the string in the same spot and make sure you have your peep set properly........that's all you need. |
RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
I finnaly made myself give it up, i was stuck in the 90's and still using one to. I decided to try it without one and am shooting great, i use my nose for alignment and center my peep with my pin guard, everything is fine, try it and let us know.

RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
I just started with a release and a peep 8 months ago started out with a kisser thought i had to have it then I took it off I got used to not having real fast.Try it I think you will find the same I am glad I did what you got lose deer season is 9 or 10 months away. Not trying to be a know it all but I think you will be glad you did one less thing to deal with also.

RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
I agree ditch it!! They are really popular in my area, but a few are beginning to see the light.

RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
Im trying, but Im soooo used to it, it's like a bad habit!!! So yall think I just need to find that sweet spot on my nose with the string??
|
RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
Just today I was helping someone out that was new to archery. Their group was all over the place. I installed a kisser button and their group instantly tightned up. She was as happy as can be. I think in time one can get rid of the kisser. I still use one. Do I really need it? Probably not. The way I see it is that when I am up in a tree all bent around trying to get a shot and it is not the ideal form situation, the kisser is just one more thing to help out. As far as loss of speed, come on now, get real guys.
|
RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
I use both a kisser and peep and would not have it any other way. My buddy has just a peep on the same bow as I have and getting a kisser put on this spring. I just think that the kisser helps with a consistant anchor point, especially with odd angles.

ORIGINAL: Vabowman Im trying, but Im soooo used to it, it's like a bad habit!!! So yall think I just need to find that sweet spot on my nose with the string?? This will help your shooting most likely, take a look at the form thread that Matt posted and look how most are anchoring. AND Matt,I have seen one picture af a VERY good pro using a very small kisser, might have just been serving but I did see it.Not sure if he uses it full time though.BUT,I have shot with many pros and seen thousands of pics and that was the only one. |
RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
I still use one and it helps greatly even with a peep. Im not sure why you are having issues with yours, maybe try having a pro-shop put it on or try another proshop. they shouldnt be breaking on you at all. Ive been using the same one since I got my bow.

RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
I agree to ditch the kisser. Give it a little time.;)

RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
Sorry guys get out the whips because I am just the oppisite of you. I hate peepsights when the action is happing fast I have lost shots because of a peep years ago. I use only the kisser button and have know problems shooting out to 50 yards!! BUt I will say that my eyes are getting worse and I might have to start hunting with my glass's soon and then I will haveno choice but put on a peepsight. Walt

RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
Walt....
I may go to your method for deer hunting. I was sighting in my son's bow the other night....and we didn't have a peep on it. No big deal. I also know Germ doesn't use a peep sight. I'm gonna experiment with this after turkey season with my hunting bow. |
RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
Wis Bow Hunter, when I bought the bow at the shop we went through 4 kissers in about 6 shots! They were blowing right off the string. I found that the really soft ones work better that the hard plastic ones. I really don't mind loosing a few fps if I can hit where Im aiming. I am used to it and I shoot better with it.

There are no absolutes on kissers and peeps! Use what works for YOU! I found I didn't need a kisser my peep works very well. There are a lot of different kissers out there and they are inexpensive. If you decide to stay with one, experiment around until you find one that works. There are also several different sizes. Dan |
RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
Yep Mean, I think i need to stick with it, the kisser has always worked for me, I don't want to change really, it's all about confidence.

RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
I put a string suppressor on and will try a new kisser and see what happens.
|
RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
I couldn't keep a kisser on my new 70# Marquis. They have to be "right next" to the Bowtech/Diamond string stopper, so just imagine that much energy suddenly coming to a halt and it wasn't any wonder that each one flew off after one or two shots. I found a solution with a Saunders Kiss-XL, which is pretty soft. This kisser has 5 holes near the outer edge, which I used to pass serving string back and forth, through: basically, start around the string below the kisser, then through one hole to the upper side of the kisser, a couple of passes around the bow string, back down through another hole, around the bow string below the kisser, up through another hole.... you get the idea.
That was over 600 shots ago, and the kisser is still in place. |
RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
Your kisser buttons shouldn't be breaking like that. Something is wrong. Is it possible that it is hitting something, maybe your rest is too far back, or possibly something on or related to the cable guards. Make sure your nock fit isn't too tight pulling the string way past the brace height.
Saunders makes a soft rubber kisser button. |
RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
It did it with my old rest and it does it with my new rest and I have had 3 techs look at it, and they simply say that the bow's speed is causing it to happen, I don't know?? It was fine with a soft kisser button until after about 300 shots. If something is hitting, wouldn't that throw my accuracy off a lot??
|
RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
Vabowman are you shooting an x force 6 inch brace height just wondering.Still think you ought to give no kisser a whirl
|
RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
MeanV, I hear and know what your saying, I am one of those that well I hated it back in 1980 so I refuse to change. But as I am getting older I am also seeing where I may have no choice because I can't shoot with my glass's on and just a kisser because of the way I hold my head but a peep would work with glass's.
VA, I agree something seems amiss because I have the same kisser on my bow for two years now.. Walt |
RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
walt if you tried one of those g5 peeps you would be shocked i hated peeps would never use one lost one deer cause of it all white buck about 15 years ago you can see threw those g5 meta peeps in the dark it does not blind you like the others or take light away from your eye these peeps are a huge step forward in technoligy
|
RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
blackfish, yeh Im still shooting the X Force. The only thing it could be hitting in the cable gaurd slide thingy, the peice that hold the cables to the slide arm.
|
RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
maybe it is the shock of the x force ?still dieing to try one .maybe it is hitting that? You should try shooting without it for a week and give us a report i know how good you are at making these forums. It would be alot better than pooping under your tree forum??????
|
RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
LOL!!! blackfish, hey man I was bored...:D anyway, I don't know, I think I can swing it without it, im certainly going to try it first before I go tie another one on. The bow does have a lot of shock.
|
RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
if you do we want a report!!!!!!!! settle alot of arguments I bet money you will say I glad i got rid of it I picked up my bow the other day the release was in the house so i shot it with my fingers just fo the hell of itthey all grouped high at 30 yrds4 inches but they grouped about 2 inches short DL with fingers
|
RE: Still dealing with Kisser issues!!!
